It’s more shady, isn’t it? quieter and more refined. The outdated SVR is replaced by the 2024 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SV. Of course, you remember that: it was frequently painted a vivid blue color and created a noise similar to Hercules gargling spicy mouthwash when being stamped on. The monstrous creature has been made civilized. The emphasis has changed. More emphasis on handling, performance, and technology; more subdued styling; less ostentation. It now has a straight-line speed that can compete with the Lamborghini Urus, Aston Martin DBX, and several German vehicles, like the BMW X5M. The DBX 707 and Urus Performante are plainly speedier iterations of the first two. We might observe a further increase in SVR over time. Otherwise, this must be a booming V8’s final performance.
What’s New?
We made the assumption that the BMW-sourced 4.4-liter V8 engine that would be available with the 2024 MY revisions for the full-size Range Rover, which Land Rover unveiled a few weeks ago, would be available with 607 horsepower, would power the Range Rover Sport SV. However, Land Rover’s engineers went a step further with the SV, increasing the power to 626 horsepower, despite the peak torque remaining at 553 lb-ft unless you activate Dynamic Launch Mode, in which case the mild hybrid system provides a momentary boost to 590 lb-ft.

No powertrain dimming is permitted. Instead of an upgraded six-cylinder hybrid, as installed in earlier RRSs, the existing 5.0-litre supercharged V8 is being replaced by a new V8 with two turbochargers that was supplied from BMW. Yes, it is the 4.4-liter engine found in the largest and heaviest M vehicles. A 180 mph peak speed is possible with 626 horsepower and 590 lb ft of torque. The hydraulics give the equivalent of 2,300Nm in corners and 4,000Nm under pitch, compared to a 48V active anti-roll bar that can apply about 1,500Nm of torque. With its factory-installed all-season tyres, the SV can pull 1.1g, a feat that makes Range Rover extremely proud.
When you switch into SV mode, you are dropped another 15mm, making it ride 10mm lower than the ordinary car. The biggest Range Rover Sport news for the 2024 season is the introduction of the SV, but it’s by no means the only significant Sport news. The mild-hybrid version of BMW’s 4.4-liter V8 is used in the P530, which should slightly increase efficiency while maintaining the same 523 horsepower output. The previous P510 plug-in hybrid is now known as the P550e in order to represent an increase in power from 503 horsepower to 542 horsepower due to an upgraded electric motor installed inside the automatic gearbox.

Dimensions & Space
New speech recognition software and “easy-to-use sliders” for volume and air conditioning controls that are visible on every screen are included with the 13.1-inch Pivi Pro infotainment touchscreen. An additional new feature called Country Road Assist, which is enabled when adaptive cruise control is on, is said to use “navigation data to automatically adjust the target speed, taking into account changes to the speed limit” and curves in the road.
