Mercedes-AMG C63 Specifications & Features
The 2024 Mercedes-AMG C63, the high-performance version of Mercedes’ entry-luxury C-class sedan, returned with a completely new engine. This new-generation C63 is propelled by a gasoline engine half as big: a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that combines with an electric motor to produce an incredible 671 horsepower in total. The previous generation was propelled by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with either 469 or 503 horsepower. The original C63 had excellent performance, but the new plug-in hybrid system promises to outperform it even if the engine’s personality has undoubtedly altered significantly. The reduced engine uses an electrically powered turbocharger arrangement similar to the one used in Mercedes-AMG’s Formula 1 race car to help reduce turbo lag. The new C-class that made its debut for the 2022 model year served as the main inspiration for the rest of the package, which features a racier exterior and a more upscale interior.
What’s New?
For the 2024 model year, the C63 is completely new, and unlike the previous year, it will only be available as a sedan. In the middle of 2023, we anticipate the 2024 C63 to arrive at Mercedes dealerships. The interior of the C63 resembles both the junior AMG C43 and the basic C-class in many ways, but it also features AMG-branded sports seats with weight-saving openings along with unique fabric and stitching patterns. Although Mercedes hasn’t specified every feature and option, we anticipate that it will come with a tonne of comfort and luxury features, such as a panoramic sunroof, heated and cooled seats, four-zone automatic climate control, and more.
Mercedes-AMG C63 Engine, Power, Performance & Acceleration
The outdated twin-turbo V8 engine from the previous-generation C63 has been replaced by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine. However, you should be aware that this inline-four will be enhanced by a 201-hp electric motor and employs an electric turbocharger to eliminate turbo lag before you get disappointed at an engine that is half as big as the old one. A tremendous 671 horsepower will be produced by the new high-performance plug-in hybrid propulsion system, giving it an advantage over competitor performance sedans like the BMW M3 and the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing, at least on paper. This configuration allows for a little amount of all-electric travel, but only for about 6 miles. We were thrilled during testing with the C63’s razor-sharp handling and quick acceleration. The electrified drivetrain has plenty of punch, and we predict it will be able to reach 60 mph in under 3.0 seconds.

The 4.8-kWh battery pack may be charged either by plugging it into a charging station or power outlet or by using the regenerative braking system of the vehicle. However, we anticipate that it will only be able to support roughly 6 kilometers of all-electric driving. The EPA hasn’t yet disclosed the C63 sedan’s fuel economy numbers. Although we expect to see some fuel efficiency improvements over the preceding model, which was rated at 17 mpg city and 26 mpg highway, due to the adoption of the reduced engine and hybrid system.

The same sizable 11.9-inch infotainment touchscreen that is built into the center console and canted slightly towards the driver in the C43 model is likely to be standard on all versions. It’s also expected that a 12.3-inch digital gauge display will come as standard. Wireless communication should include both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard features, and a premium Burmester music system should also be included.

Although Mercedes-AMG hasn’t officially disclosed prices, we anticipate the C63 to follow the new C-class trim levels, starting with the Premium base trim at roughly $95,000 and moving up from there.
