Mercedes-AMG GLB-Class Specifications & Features
The 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLB-Class, Mercedes’ smallest box, is coupled with its potent turbocharged four-cylinder to create an AMG-tuned lunch pail. Its Ziploc bag contains all-wheel drive and 302 horsepower. Affalterbach also improved the handling, which is like adding cinnamon to applesauce for the tiny crossover from Mercedes. Although we like the GLA35’s design, with which it shares a chassis and a motor, the GLB35’s boxy shape makes it more useful. The GLB35 serves as the most aggressive GLB available today and has a tonne of standard features, but those improvements push its price over the competition in a market designated for the cheapest luxury crossovers.
What’s New?
The front bumper, headlights, and taillights of the Mercedes-AMG GLB35 have all been revised for 2024, and an AMG crest has been added to the hood. With the addition of a 48-volt hybrid-assist system to the powertrain, its alterations go beyond the surface. New 19- and 20-inch wheels as well as a new steering wheel are also included. Despite having to shoehorn three rows of passengers into the GLB-class’s small body, Mercedes has managed to do so. However, we’d rather not be the unfortunate person who has to sit in the way back. The adult seating is in the first and second rows. The AMG GLB-class stands out from its Benz-branded rival by having a flat-bottomed steering wheel with microfiber and leather interior.
Mercedes-AMG GLB-Class Engine, Power & Performance
AWD and an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox are both standard on the GLB35, which is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that generates 302 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. For extended stop-start operations, this powertrain also incorporates a 48-volt hybrid-assist technology in the form of a belt-driven starter generator. A non-hybrid GLB35 tested quickly reached 60 mph in 4.9 seconds. Although the GLB35’s handling is quite incisive and lively, the stiff-legged ride is a trade-off for its enjoyable driving characteristics. We anticipate the 382-hp variant of the same turbocharged 2.0-liter, which is used in the redesigned CLA45 sedan, will eventually be made available in a more potent GLB45 model.

The 2024 GLB35 has not yet received an EPA rating, although the non-hybrid AMG from the previous year received predictions of 21 mpg city and 26 mpg highway. Similar performance SUVs like the BMW X2 M35i and Mini Cooper Countryman JCW score the same 25 mpg combined and EPA highway ratings of 29 and 30, respectively.

Behind a single glass panel, a changeable digital gauge display melds into a sizable wide-screen infotainment system. The new infotainment system from Mercedes-Benz features gesture and touchpad controls, as well as speech recognition. Navigation is an optional feature; an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto are all standard. Our experience with the entertainment system in other Mercedes goods has led us to believe that the GLB35’s software and the many ways to interact with it are fussy.

The GLB35 comes well-equipped, but we’d probably add the Premium option, which comes with passive keyless entry, power-folding exterior mirrors, and a hands-free power liftgate.
