Polestar 3 Specifications & Features
The 2024 Polestar 3 joins the influx of electrified SUVs that are flooding the market, and it does so with a stylish appearance and the necessary high-riding seating position. Although the Polestar 2 might be viewed as either a tall car or a low-riding SUV, Volvo’s spinoff-EV brand has only manufactured cars thus far. The 3, which will go on sale sometime in 2023, won’t cause any such confusion. Its sleek roofline, pronounced fenders, and striking wheel arches have us completely smitten. With a sleek design and premium materials, the SUV’s interior also appears luxurious. The base model’s 489-hp, dual-motor, AWD powertrain provides more than enough power. For those who live for speed, the optional Performance grade ups the horsepower to 517 and comes with a modified suspension. Additionally, it boasts a variety of active safety features.
What’s New?
The Polestar 3 is the company’s first SUV vehicle and the third model in its gradually growing lineup. The 3 will be produced alongside the S60 sedan and the upcoming XC90 SUV at Volvo’s new facility in South Carolina, making it the first Polestar to be produced in the country. The first SUV model from Polestar is loaded with luxury and convenience amenities. A panoramic sunroof with the illuminated Polestar emblem is standard on all versions. Additionally standard is a motorized rear liftgate, heated power front seats, a three-zone automatic temperature control system, and an onboard air purifier. Clean and contemporary, the inside is furnished with upscale materials that Polestar claims are sustainable and eco-friendly.
Polestar 3 Motor, Battery, Range & Performance
The Polestar 3 comes with a dual-motor drivetrain that comes in two different strengths. The Performance trim has 517 horsepower instead of the base setup’s 489 horsepower. Even though AWD is the default, Polestar claims the powerplant is rear-biased. The 3 will sprint to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds, according to Polestar, thanks to the 3’s more powerful electric motors. Every 3 will have an active damper adaptable suspension system, but the Performance package also comes with a suspension that has been adjusted for sport.
The identical 107-kWh battery pack that powers each model may be charged at up to 250 kW via a DC fast charging connector. According to the automaker, that is sufficient to charge the battery from 10 to 80% in as little as 30 minutes. The regular model is estimated to provide roughly 300 miles of driving after being fully charged before needing to be refueled. The anticipated range for the more potent Performance variant is slightly less, at 270 miles per charge.
Polestar 3 Mileage
Although the EPA hasn’t yet provided estimates for the Polestar 3, we anticipate it to be a little less fuel-efficient than the Polestar 2 sedan.

Polestar’s most recent Google-based infotainment system comes standard and runs on a sizable 14.5-inch touchscreen display. The Polestar 3’s gauge cluster is located on a secondary 9.0-inch display. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are expected to be included as standard equipment, and all versions will also include four USB-C charging connections, Bluetooth, and in-dash navigation. A 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system, which is a part of the Plus package, will also be included on the first batch of Polestar 3s but is anticipated to be made optional after the SUV’s first model year.
Pricing
2024 Polestar 3 Trims | Price (USD) |
Dual Motor | $85,300 |
Dual Motor Performance | $91,300 |
We’d stay with the basic Dual Motor model, which has 489 horsepower and won’t likely be a slouch, despite how alluring the tuned-up Performance variant sounds. For its first year on the market, it also comes standard with a comprehensive list of features, including the contents of the Pilot and packages, and has a longer range than the Performance model. That means high-end luxury touches like a 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins radio and soft-closing doors are also on every model, in addition to technological features like adaptive cruise control with lane-centering and a head-up display. If the Polestar 3’s price seems high, keep in mind that competitors like the BMW iX and Jaguar I-Pace are similarly pricy.
