Subaru Crosstrek Specifications & Features
The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek has always been an economical, tough, and fuel-efficient package designed to travel a little further off the beaten path than an Impreza hatchback, but it has never been a rock-crawling off-roader. The Crosstrek’s transition into its following generation for the 2024 model year won’t alter that. Crosstrek’s design improves upon that of its predecessor in a typical Subaru manner. The same can be said for its cabin, which is still roomy and useful compared to the 2023 model. The base engine, a 2.0-liter flat-four with 152 horsepower, and the optional 2.5-liter flat-four with 182 horsepower are both still available. AWD comes as standard on all models, as is the Subaru way. Despite this, Subaru has improved the new Crosstrek over the previous generation model by revamping the seats for enhanced comfort and adding more sound-deadening material to the cabin to help block out outside noise.

The Crosstrek undergoes a major redesign for 2024, marking the start of the tiny crossover’s third generation, even if it may appear to be quite identical to the 2023 model. Subaru is introducing the Crosstrek in Wilderness form for the first time this year. The Crosstrek Wilderness has all-terrain tires, a raised suspension with 9.3 inches of ground clearance, and more durable external design elements. Subaru has modified the seat design to be more comfortable and added additional sound-deadening materials to dampen noises and quell vibrations. The new Crosstrek is rough as roomy and cargo-friendly as the previous model. Buyers looking for a more stylish appearance will feel shortchanged by Subaru’s simple style, which continues to be overtly utilitarian.
Subaru Crosstrek Engine, Power, Acceleration & Performance
Standard on the 2024 Crosstrek is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 152 horsepower, although Sport and Limited models come with a 2.5-liter engine with 182 horsepower. A 148-hp plug-in hybrid powertrain is also anticipated to shortly join the lineup. None of them have ever performed in a way that we’d consider noteworthy, and the 2024 model is similarly mediocre. Subaru previously provided the Crosstrek with either a six-speed manual or a CVT, but regrettably does not offer the manual this time. All-wheel drive is standard on the Subaru Forester and most other variants. The WRX sports sedan from Subaru is not an inspiration for the Crosstrek’s chassis.
Although its intended client probably won’t need its excellent turning abilities, this soft-riding crossover doesn’t provide the same level of driving excitement as the Mazda CX-30 or the Volkswagen Taos. However, the Crosstrek has at least 8.7 inches of ground clearance, hill-descent control, and hill-start assist features, making it more capable of off-roading than rival crossovers. The Wilderness trim has more aggressive all-terrain tires and 9.3 inches of ground clearance.

The 11.6-inch infotainment display used in other Subaru vehicles like the Outback station wagon and the WRX sports sedan will be available in the 2024 Crosstrek, but it won’t come standard. The base model has a 7.0-inch display, but both screens support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Subaru hasn’t confirmed anything, but we anticipate adding a plug-in hybrid model to the roster as well. Until that time, we believe the Sport trim will be the one to choose since it gives you access to the more potent engine.
