Shortly after its debut in close-to-production guise at the Bharat Mobility Expo. Reports have confirmed that Tata will launch the electric version of the Tata Curvv sometime in the second quarter of FY2025 (July-September 2024). Based on the Nexon platform, the Curvv will feature a familiar design language. It will boast Tata’s signature split-LED headlamp setup, prominent gloss-black cladding on the sides, a split tail-lamp setup at the rear, and a distinct coupe-like roofline. EV and ICE models will sport different-looking bumpers and LED light signatures. In terms of dimensions, the Curvv will be 313mm longer than the Nexon, with a 62mm increase in wheelbase.

Internally, the Curvv will share many elements with the Nexon. The dashboard design will largely remain the same, with the inclusion of the four-spoke illuminated steering wheel from the Harrier and Safari. The 10.25-inch screens for the instrument cluster and digital dials are expected to be carried over, with the EV potentially featuring unique switchgear and additional features, similar to the Nexon EV’s enhancements over the regular Nexon. Notable features may include a wireless charger, 360-degree camera, ventilated seats, and connected car features. The Curvv is also expected to offer a sunroof, although unlikely to be panoramic.

Specifications & Performance

Under the hood, the Tata Curvv will be powered by Tata’s new 125-hp 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine available with both manual and automatic gearboxes. Diesel variants will utilize the Nexon’s 1.5-litre four-cylinder unit, making it the third diesel offering in the midsize SUV segment, with a CNG option expected in the future. The EV variant will utilize Tata’s Gen 2 acti.ev architecture and will offer a driving range of 450-500 km. With four different powertrain options, the Curvv aims to stand out in the crowded midsize SUV segment.
