Prepping for both, the 24 Hours of Daytona and 24 Hours of Le Mans 2023, The Project GTP Hypercar is dramatically styled, with tons of sharp edges and aggressive, aerodynamic surfaces. The GTP is significantly wider than the current crop of DPi top-class race cars and is more distinctly Cadillac, with vertical headlights and taillights echoing the long-standing design language of Cadillac’s road cars. Forged carbon fiber is omnipresent, appearing in the front splitter, side sills, engine cover, and rear diffuser. The see-through fin extending from the narrow cabin provides a unique look, although Cadillac said that some materials may change when the GTP hits the track next year.
The rule set that governs the next generation of IMSA’s top class requires the cars to use a chassis from one of four manufacturers as well as a standard hybrid system, mated to an engine of their choice. The Cadillac will ride on a Dallara chassis and will pair the hybrid setup with a double-overhead-cam 5.5-liter V-8, exclusively powering the rear wheels.
