Bengaluru-based EV startup Simple Energy has introduced its latest electric scooter, the Simple Energy Ultra, in India at an ex-showroom price of ₹2.34 lakh. The launch directly targets one of the biggest concerns among EV buyers range anxiety by offering a claimed IDC-certified range of 400 km on a single charge.

With this figure, the Ultra enters a segment of its own, significantly surpassing the range offered by popular models such as the Ather 450X and the Ola S1 Pro.

Performance and Battery Details

Built for Range Without Compromising Power

The Simple Energy Ultra is powered by a 6.5 kWh battery pack, which the company claims is among the largest currently used in an electric scooter in India. This battery is paired with an electric motor producing 8.8 kW of power and 72 Nm of torque.

In terms of performance, the scooter can accelerate from 0 to 40 kmph in just 2.77 seconds, while its top speed is rated at 115 kmph. While the focus is clearly on long-distance capability, the Ultra also offers strong acceleration, making it suitable for both city and highway use.

Company Vision and Strategy

According to Simple Energy’s founder and CEO, Suhas Rajkumar, the Ultra has been designed for customers who want both extended range and strong performance in a single package.

The model is also part of the company’s larger strategy to strengthen its market presence ahead of a potential public offering in the coming years. By introducing a product with a standout specification like a 400 km range, the brand aims to position itself as a serious player in India’s EV space.

Availability and Expansion Plans

The Simple Energy Ultra is available through the company’s official website as well as its growing network of retail outlets. Test rides have already begun in select cities, and deliveries are underway.

The company currently operates around 70 touchpoints across India, including cities such as Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, and Kochi, with plans to expand further in the near future.

What It Means for Buyers

The launch of the Ultra represents a shift in the electric scooter segment, where range is becoming a key differentiator. While real-world performance will ultimately determine its success, the claimed 400 km range sets a new benchmark on paper.

For buyers looking for an electric scooter capable of handling longer commutes without frequent charging, the Simple Energy Ultra positions itself as a strong contender in the premium EV space.
