2023 Cadillac CT4 sedan serves as the entry point to the Cadillac brand, which also provides a taste of the sportiness that is only seen in its more expensive and higher-performance siblings. Its agile handling and beautiful curb appeal also mean it’s got what it takes to compete with European compact-sedan competitors such as the BMW 2-series Gran Coupe and the Mercedes-Benz A-class. Under the hood lies either a 237-hp 2.0-Liter four-pot or a turbo 2.7-Liter that pumps out up to 325-hp in the top-spec V-Series trim. By the way, you shouldn’t be confused with the speedier CT4-V Blackwing model, which is elaborated here. The biggest criticism of the CT4 is, that despite coming from the house of Cadillac, the other model’s interior materials and ambiance are way more upscale than this entry-level sedan. And it’s a no-brainer that it doesn’t match other luxury-branded competitors.

What’s New?
For the 2023 model year, two separate packages bundle Cadillac’s Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system with luxury and convenience items. Which is available on Premium Luxury and Sport trims. The Super Cruise 1 package includes a 12.0-inch digital gauge cluster, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a 360-degree camera; while the Super Cruise 2 package adds a Bose premium stereo system, in-dash navigation, and more. The base Luxury variant now comes with more standard driver-assistance features, which include automatic high-beam headlamps, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keeping assist.
Engine & Performance
Customers can choose between two turbocharged four-cylinder engines: A 237-hp 2.0-Liter powering the base Luxury and Premium Luxury and Sport models. While a 2.7-Liter is optional in the Premium Luxury and comes as standard in the CT4-V. It makes 309-hp in the former and 325-hp in the latter. The smaller of the two engines are mated with an eight-speed automatic, while the larger four pairs with a 10-speed. Rear-wheel drive is the standard setup, which is rare in this segment. Competitors such as Audi A3, BMW 2-series Gran Coupe, and Mercedes A-class are all FWD setups. The CT4 offers AWD on all models as an option. On driving the CT4-V, it is athletic, eager, and quick, but we would have preferred the more refined 10-speed gearbox. The Caddy’s suspension handles potholes without harassing the occupants and delivers sharp, rewarding handling.
Fuel Economy
2023 Cadillac CT4 Mileage | City | Highway |
Turbo-Four | 23 mpg | 34 mpg |
2.7-L RWD | 20 mpg | 30 mpg |
All of the CT4’s turbocharged four-pot engines provide decent fuel economy. RWD models with 2.0-liter are rated as high at 23 mpg city, 34 mpg highway, and 27 mpg combined. While opting for AWD drops the highway number by 2 mpg and the combined number by 1. The more powerful 2.7-liter engine is less efficient, with the rear-drive model coming in at 20 mpg city, 30 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined.
