There are very few instances when automakers get used out of their test vehicles instead of scrapping them. They usually take the important stuff out after the testing before the model goes into production. Volkswagen did the same with one of their ID.4 models, they converted their EV into a concept car called the Volkswagen ID.Xtreme. VW unveiled their new ID.Xtreme concept at Locarno, Switzerland. They gave a peek inside an electric crossover turned into an off-roading machine.

The ID.Extreme concept is based on the VW ID.4 GTX, it is sold as the ID.4 in the US. The ID.4 comes with two electric motors and an all-wheel drive system. The ID. Extreme concept offers the same dual motor setup that produces 382 horsepower. Thanks to the tuned chassis and suspension setup, the ID.Xtreme makes 87 hp more than the GTX. The VW concept gets a new ride height with its raised suspension and wide 18-inch wheels.
VW has also redesigned the front bumper with more ruggedness and added a bull bar on the front. The concept off-roader also gets a new LED bar on the roof for a more high-adrenaline rushed adventure at night. The car also gets a new aluminum underbody protector underneath the boy to protect its battery from debris or other solid rock particles.

The Volkswagen ID.Extreme gets a white and black body with orange accents that go on inside the car’s interior. Although the company did not reveal any photos of the cabin, VW says they have redesigned the seats and other surfaces with Alcantara. The concept off-roader gets an artificial sound system to produce driving noise designed by the VW design team. This off-road concept is an awesome creation, we don’t expect to see this Volkswagen concept soon. With automakers like Subaru, Hyundai, and Honda with their Wilderness, XRT, and Trailsport off-roaders. We expect Volkswagen make the ID. Extreme concept into the production and a fully-functional machine.
