Mitsubishi Mirage Specifications & Features
There aren’t many vehicles available today with MSRPs under $20,000, much less ones with a 10-year warranty. Fortunately, Mitsubishi offers the subcompact 2023 Mitsubishi Mirage, which has a starting price of under $18,000, for buyers looking for affordable transportation. Along with its price and extensive warranty coverage, the small Japanese hatchback also provides exceptional fuel efficiency and more cargo space than one might anticipate. Although the small three-cylinder engine’s fuel efficiency is excellent, we found it to be painfully poky, buzzing, and almost devoid of power. The Mirage’s other four benefits—price, warranty, fuel economy, and surprise cargo room—cannot satiate your higher-level desires for luxury or driving enjoyment. It’s just a basic vehicle, not a horrible one.
What’s New?
The removal of the five-speed manual gearbox is the most noteworthy modification to the Mirage for the 2023 model year. As a result of the change, every Mirage now comes standard with a continuously variable automatic gearbox (CVT). The inclusion of a black roof option, which is only offered on certain trim levels, is the only additional modification. The Mirage is not one of the few subcompacts that have decently luxurious cabins. The inside of the automobile is adequate for its price range, despite the simplistic design and plenty of hard plastics. Legroom in the backseats is limited, but the front row is pleasant.
Mitsubishi Mirage Engine, Power, Acceleration & Performance
The 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine that powers all Mitsubishi Mirage hatchbacks only produces a meager 78 horsepower and 74 pound-feet of torque. Compare that to competitors like the Nissan Versa, which has 122 horsepower and 114 pound-feet of torque. Every Mirage has a standard CVT, which sends power to the front wheels. The Mirage accelerates slowly when traveling on highways and metropolitan streets. When pushed, which is the majority of the time the car is running, the engine becomes loud, and heavy throttle inputs are needed just to keep up with traffic.
Mitsubishi Mirage Mileage
2023 Mitsubishi Mirage Mileage | City | Highway |
Mirage | 36 mpg | 43 mpg |
The Mitsubishi Mirage gets 36 mpg in the city and 43 mpg on the interstate, claims the EPA. These astounding figures establish the Mirage as a more economical option than the Nissan Versa (up to 32/40 mpg).
Dimensions & Space
2023 Mitsubishi Mirage Dimensions | |

Width | 65.6 in |

The Mirage comes with Bluetooth connectivity as standard, which enables hands-free calling. Standard features include a 7.0-inch touchscreen, four speakers, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. An upgrade to a Rockford Fosgate sound system is available for customers looking for a more upscale configuration.
Pricing
2023 Mitsubishi Mirage Trims | Price (USD) |
ES | $17,450 |
LE | $18,050 |
Black Edition | $18,650 |
SE | $19,930 |
We’re going to assume that if you’re thinking about buying a Mirage, your goal is to find a car that won’t break the bank. In light of this, we advise sticking with the standard ES model because upgrading to a more expensive trim puts the Mirage in direct competition with several superior options.

Conclusion
Owing to a 10-year warranty, affordable to buy, fill up, and own. Is that an engine or are there gerbils beneath the hood, interior decor indicative of cost? The Mirage can manage that if you’re looking for a new car with a solid guarantee that costs little to buy and uses nearly no petrol; just don’t expect anything more of it.
