BMW India is ready to launch the BMW iX1, an electric version of the X1 SUV, BMW’s most affordable electric car in the coming weeks. The iX1, boasts a 66.5 kWh battery pack with dual motors. This provides a combined power output of 313 bhp and 495 Nm of torque. It offers an impressive WLTP range of 440 kilometers on a single charge. The iX1 was unveiled internationally last year and is now making its way to the Indian market, further expanding BMW’s electric vehicle lineup in the country.

The BMW iX1 shares its design with the X1 SUV, albeit with some distinctive elements. These include a closed-off grille and unique exterior trim accents finished in blue. The overall design features an upright front fascia with a closed grille, slim LED headlights, and chrome inserts. Its side profile closely resembles the standard X1. It is distinguished by blue inserts on the side skirts. A range of alloy wheel options are available from 17 to 21 inches. The rear of the iX1 showcases a spoiler, L-shaped tail lamps, along with “iX1” badging to set it apart from the X1.

Interior and Features

The BMW iX1 boasts a dual-tone black and brown color scheme, featuring a layered and driver-oriented dashboard design. It incorporates slim AC vents and houses a dual-integrated display setup, including a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. Notable features in the global model comprise Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control. It also gets electrically adjustable front seats with memory and massage functions. Safety features such as multiple airbags, rear park assist, front collision warning, cruise control with brake function, and more.

The BMW iX1 offers two global variants: the eDrive20 and xDrive30, both equipped with a 64.7kWh battery pack. The eDrive20 features a single motor front-wheel drive configuration generating 204PS and 250Nm of torque, while the xDrive30 boasts a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, delivering a combined output of 313PS and 494Nm. This potent configuration propels the iX1 from 0 to 100 kmph in a swift 5.6 seconds, with a WLTP-rated range of up to 475km.

Pricing

The BMW iX1 will enter into competition with the Volvo XC40 Recharge. The BMW iX1 could get a Rs 57 lakh tag, and it is likely to be a complete CBU import like other BMW electric vehicles in India. BMW could potentially launch the iX1 in India as early as October this year, with an estimated starting price of Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom).
