Overview
David Allen Meltzer who was born in New York City, U.S on October 24, 1959, is an American journalist and author. He went to San Jose State University and received a degree in journalism. Meltzer started his career writing about sports for the Wichita Falls Times Record News.
Meltzer joined Wrestling Observer Newsletter as a publisher and editor in 1983. During this time he made the star rating system more popular by rating the matches on a scale of one to five. Some matches even got more than five-star ratings. For a game at Dominion 6.9 in Osaka-jo Hall, Meltzer gave seven stars which was his highest ever rating.
