Kia India’s MD & CEO, Tae-Jin Park has emphasized the brand will continue selling diesel engines as long as regulations permit. However, Kia aims to eventually phase-out of diesel engines.

Kia is in the process of electrifying its existing 1.2-litre and 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine options. The brand possesses hybrid technology expertise from its global markets, and it aims to strike a balance between introducing hybrid solutions and managing costs in the Indian market. The hybrid setup is anticipated to be introduced initially on the upcoming sub-4m SUV, the Clavis, expected to debut by the end of 2024 with a subsequent launch in 2025. Following the Clavis launch, the hybrid setup could extend to the Seltos and Carens in the subsequent years.
