Les Brown (born February 17, 1945) is an American politician and motivational speaker. He was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 1977 to 1981. Many of Brown’s speeches claim that when he first tried to break into public radio, he had a string of failures. He wasn’t employed on a full-time basis until the afternoon DJ’s on-air missteps the day before. After being fired from the radio station, he successfully ran for and was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives. He changed his profession to television after leaving the Ohio State Legislature and started hosting PBS. He also hosted a show “The Les Brown Show“. Brown was married to Gladys Knight.
