Lotus launched the hand-built Emira GT4 Race Car with a price of $205,000.
Overview
After all the rumours and teasers, Lotus finally removed the cover from the Lotus Emira GT4 race car. It is the track-focused version of the Emirates sports car. The GT4 made its debut at the Hethel test track, by showing the capabilities and performance around the circuit with the 1965 Lotus Type 30.
Each Emira GT4 is hand-built by Lotus in collaboration with RML Group. It comes with a Toyota sourced, 3.5-liter V8 engine that delivers 400 horsepower with a rear-wheel-drive steering, controlled by a six-speed transmission with paddle shifters. The GT4 is capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in under 4.0 seconds with a top speed of more than 180 mph. The Emira GT4 comes with a limited-slip differential system and has an adjustable Bosch ABS module.
The GT4 comes with 18-inch wheels made from Pirelli GT4 tires. The GT4 has a new suspension for both axles with two-way adjustable Ohlins dampers, specially tuned for the car. The car is made up entirely of bonded aluminium chassis with the composition of several body panels at one. The aluminium chassis helped the car to keep the dry weight as low as 2,866 pounds (1,300 kilograms).
The new Lotus GT4 comes from the Lotus Advance Performance division, and it is the first performance car from the division. It was launched as a part of the Lotus motorsport and experimental arm. The Lotus GT4 will help scale the brand’s position as the global performance sports carmaker higher.
The car may have launched now, but it is already sold out for this year of production. The interested customers will still have the chance to buy the car from next year. The new Lotus GT4 comes at a price tag of $205,500 (U.S converted).
