Indian auto giant Maruti Suzuki to launch 2 brand new cars in India soon this year

February seemed like a lull in the Indian automotive scene, but Maruti Suzuki is planning to break the silence with two new launches in the coming months. The iconic Swift and Dzire are getting generational updates, promising fresh designs, upgraded features, and a glimpse into the brand’s future electrification plans. Let’s look at the 2 brand-new cars Maruti Suzuki is planning to unveil in India in the coming months.

1. Next-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift:

The new-gen Swift, spotted testing in India is bearing a striking resemblance to its Japanese counterpart. The new Swift will come with minor tweaks like the absence of ADAS radar to suit local regulations. India’s popular hatchback will offer a bolder look with a redesigned grille, LED headlamps and fog lamps, and sporty blacked-out alloy wheels.

Inside, the cabin will embrace a modern aesthetic reminiscent of the Fronx. The hatch will offer a floating infotainment system, rectangular AC vents, and updated HVAC controls to offer a familiar yet refreshed feel. Powering the Swift will be a new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine that makes 80 bhp and 108 Nm of torque. While the hybrid version wasn’t coming a few months back, Maruti is reportedly developing an affordable hybrid setup for the future. The next-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift will get a price hike of Rs 70k-80k depending on the variant.

2. 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire:

Following Swift’s footsteps, the Dzire is also undergoing a generational change. Spy shots reveal the new Dzire will offer a new rear end with a new tailgate, and interestingly, a 360-degree camera, a feature not seen on the Swift test mule.

Interiors will offer a similar look to the Swift, with potential variations in upholstery and features like an electric sunroof. The interior will feature a 9.0-inch infotainment system and a semi-digital instrument cluster that will enhance the driving experience. The Dzire will share the same 1.2-litre K-series engine with manual and AMT transmission options. Both the Swift and Dzire will launch together and will mark a significant update for these popular hatchbacks.

Maruti’s plans go beyond these immediate launches. The brand is reportedly developing a low-cost hybrid system, utilizing a new 1.2-litre Z-series engine as a generator to charge a 2kWh battery pack. This system is anticipated to debut on the Fronx facelift in 2025, paving the way for its integration into various models, including a potential future Swift facelift in 2027.
