The next-gen Hyundai Verna is to come with all-new looks and a complete design overhaul with new features that are first in the segment. With the 5th-gen Honda City and Volkswagen Virtus in the market, the beloved Verna has almost gone from the buyer’s radar. To replenish that Hyundai with its upcoming Verna with the all-new Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) package.
Recently Zigwheels posted some spy shots capturing the upcoming test car which would be the next generation, Hyundai Verna. While the car was heavily camouflaged and covered, we didn’t have much to see but judging by the size and looks, the car would offer a new design. With a new design, the front bumper looks lowered and holds the radar system which is used for driver assistance features in expensive cars. We expect that the 2023 Verna would offer ADAS functionality with more advancements in the interior and overall design.
Features & Design
However, the ADAS features are not new as the Mahindra XUV700 and the MG Astor do offer with their models, it will be the first in the segment of the Verna. The all-new Hyundai Tucson that launched a while back became the first car from the Korean carmaker to offer ADAS. Similar to that, we expect the upcoming Hyundai Verna to come with similar features to the new Tucson. It includes adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, collision avoidance, and a 360-degree camera. The 5th-gen Hond City does offer similar features but comes at a higher price thanks to its hybrid powertrain.
The upcoming Hyundai Verna will get a longer body with improved styling and new front and rear bumpers similar to the new Elantra that sells in global markets. Due to its increased wheelbase, the Verna will offer a roomier cabin for the passengers. Apart from the exterior design overhaul, the car will get a new cabin with an updated interior and technology to compete with its rivals. It includes more comfortable seats with ventilation features, a new infotainment display, wireless charging support, and more.
Engine Specifications & Performance
Although the official engine options and trims are not revealed yet, we expect the next-gen Hyundai Verna to come with three engine options. Starting with a 115-PS 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine with a 6-speed manual and CVT transmission. Next a 120-PS 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Next comes the 115-PS 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine paired with either a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox. We will update as more information comes along so stay tuned for that.
