Hertz CEO Stephen M. Scherr Car Collection
Stephen M. Scherr the CEO of Hertz and a board member since February 2022, gained 28 years of experience at Goldman Sachs. He held various important roles there, including Chief Financial Officer from 2018 to 2021. Scherr led the launch of Marcus, Goldman Sachs’ consumer banking division 2016, and played a big part in introducing the AppleCard in 2019. Before his time at Goldman Sachs, Scherr worked as a lawyer at Cravath, Swaine & Moore but then switched to finance. He got his law degree from Harvard Law School after finishing his bachelor’s degree at Princeton University. While we don’t know what cars he prefers, considering his successful career, it’s interesting to guess what he might drive.

Land Rover Range Rover
The Range Rover has been a popular choice among celebrities and wealthy individuals for many years. It offers luxurious features similar to high-end cars but performs well off-road, away from fancy events. Every model comes with an AWD, an adjustable air suspension, and ample ground clearance. You have a variety of engine options to choose from, including a six-cylinder, plug-in hybrid, or V8. Additionally, you can personalize your Range Rover with various luxurious additions such as massaging seats, reclining rear seats, fold-out trays, and a built-in cooler. However, regardless of the version you select, it comes with a hefty price tag. It is more expensive than entry-level models of similar SUVs like the Cadillac Escalade, Jeep Grand Wagoneer, or Mercedes-Benz GLS-class.
Cadillac Escalade
The Cadillac Escalade is known as the best model from the brand, with its big size and bold style representing classic American luxury. Even though it shares parts with other SUVs like the Chevy Tahoe and GMC Yukon, the Escalade does well against other big luxury SUVs like the Lincoln Navigator and Mercedes-Benz GLS-class because it has Cadillac’s fanciest technology and most luxurious features. Inside, you’ll find fancy materials like wood, leather, and metal. There’s a big curved screen on the dashboard that shows information and controls for the car. It also has helpful features like cruise control that can drive the car by itself in some situations. You can pick between a powerful gasoline 6.2L V8 engine or a diesel-powered inline 6. And this year, Cadillac has added a super-fast model to the Escalade lineup, giving it even more horsepower.
Chevrolet Tahoe
The Chevrolet Tahoe offers plenty of room for passengers and cargo, making it a spacious choice. Surprisingly, it feels quite nimble on the road compared to other large SUVs. You can choose from three different engines, each offering decent towing capacity. The base model comes with a 355-hp V8 engine, but you can upgrade to a more powerful 420-hp V8 if you prefer. There’s also a diesel inline-six option available now, which is new compared to previous Tahoe models. All models come with three rows of seating, and even the basic LS trim includes popular infotainment and driver-assistance features. If you enjoy off-road driving, the Z71 model is the best choice, offering a two-speed transfer case, adjustable air suspension, and rugged all-terrain tyres.
Chevrolet Suburban
Now in its 12th generation, this huge full-size SUV still offers three rows of seating for up to eight passengers and plenty of towing capacity. It comes standard with a 355-hp V8 engine, but you can also opt for an optional 277-hp inline-six turbodiesel or a 420-hp V8. All engines are paired with a smooth 10-speed automatic transmission and can be equipped with either RWD or 4WD, except for the off-road-focused Z71 trim, which is 4WD only. The Suburban has a massive cargo space, even larger than the Jeep Wagoneer when the third row is folded. An available air suspension ensures a comfortable ride over bumps in the road. While the interior design and materials may not be very exciting, the 10.2-inch touchscreen works well for controlling climate and navigation functions quickly and clearly.
Mercedes-Benz S-Class
The Mercedes-Benz S-class is the ultimate luxury sedan that sets the bar for others to follow. It caters to the preferences of its wealthy customers with high-quality materials, luxurious comfort, and advanced technology. Available in three models. The S500, S580, and S580e; each with its unique powertrain and AWD. The S500 comes with a smooth turbocharged straight-six engine producing 429 hp, while the S580 boasts a powerful 496-hp V8. The plug-in hybrid S580e offers 510 hp and can travel around 58 miles on electric power alone. The S-class focuses on comfort and luxury, as seen in its plush leather seats and standard air suspension for a smooth ride. With the optional E-Active Body Control, the car even leans into corners to keep your drink stable while you relax in the power-adjustable, reclining rear seats with a heated massage function.
BMW 7-Series
The latest version of the BMW 7-series, the flagship sedan from the company, has been released for the 2023 model year. While it keeps the essence of its predecessor, there are some upgrades. You can choose between a turbocharged inline-six engine and a twin-turbo V8, with a plug-in hybrid version coming later. Thanks to adjustments in the chassis and suspension, including a new rear-wheel steering system, it feels a bit more agile on the road than before. The car’s driver-assistance technology includes a hands-free driving mode for highway trips. However, the standout feature is the optional 31.3-inch rear entertainment display known as the Theater Screen, which comes down from the ceiling and allows passengers to watch TV shows and movies using the car’s onboard Wi-Fi system.
Porsche Cayenne Coupe
The Cayenne Coupe is like a fancy version of the regular Cayenne SUV, aimed at people who want a family car that’s also exciting to drive. It looks great and has that classic Porsche sports car feel when you’re zooming around twisty roads. The basic version has a 340-hp turbocharged V6 engine, but the GTS model has a more powerful twin-turbo V8 with 453 hp. Compared to other mid-size SUVs like the Genesis GV80, BMW X5, and Volvo XC90, the Cayenne Coupe stands out for its good looks, fancy features, and strong performance. Just keep in mind that since it’s a Porsche, it’s going to cost you quite a bit more.
