Electric cars have become the future of the automobile industry. With the easy electrical components combined to work. This has become an easy task for the manufacturers than the complicated design of a conventional IC engine vehicle. Even many other companies that are not in the automotive sector are making plans to get into it by launching their electric vehicles.

And the tech companies are investing some billions of U.S dollars to bring their new technology to these electric vehicles. Electric vehicles have become the trend and many of them were launched by different automobile manufacturers over the past few years. Some of them were rated good, some of them were rated bad and some of them were overrated. Here are a few such overrated EVs.

1. Hyundai Kona

The company started this vehicle’s production in 2017 and released an all-electric version of it in 2018 in Europe and the next year in the U.S. This vehicle has come to sale in two versions 39.2 kWh and other 64 kWh. This vehicle has a range of 258 mi. The main problem with this vehicle is the cabin looks a bit cramped and doesn’t have all-wheel drive as an option. The cargo space is very less and the front trunk is not available, unlike any other electric vehicle.

2. Kia Niro

This is a compact SUV that was in production from 2016. The company launched the all-electric version of it in 2018. This vehicle shares the same powertrain as the already highly overrated Hyundai Kona Electric. This vehicle has two battery versions the 39.2 kWh and the 64 kWh. The 39.2 kWh version produces a maximum power of 100 kW (134 hp) and a torque of 395 Nm (291 lb-ft). The vehicle has a range of only 179 miles on a single complete charge. Whereas the 64 kWh version has a 201 hp motor and manages to give a range of 239 miles. The starting price of this vehicle is $40,000.

3. Chevrolet Bolt

This vehicle is a subcompact hatchback. This vehicle has a good driving range, acceleration, and is known for its one-pedal driving. Which are very good for a car like this. But the problem with this vehicle is that it doesn’t have a sunroof and the interiors don’t give a premium feel. This vehicle costs $31,500.

4. Mini Cooper SE

The company started its production in 2019 and came to sale as a 2020 model. The vehicle has a 32.6 kWh battery pack and the motor has a power output of 181hp and 199 lb⋅ft of torque. The vehicle has a range of only 110 miles. And the pricing starts from $30,750. Another main disadvantage of this vehicle is the rear seats are very small to fit tall people.

5. BMW iX

This vehicle is a midsize SUV. This premium vehicle is bought on sale with a starting price of $83,200. However, with such a huge price tag, the design of this vehicle isn’t that impressive and attention-seeking with the huge front grille. And also it doesn’t have a front trunk.

6. Mercedes-EQS

The company started its production in 2021. The vehicle is equipped with an electric motor rated 329 hp. The vehicle technically gives a driving range of 350miles which is just less than Tesla’s Model 3 range and the price is almost double it with a starting cost of $100,000.

7. Porsche Taycan

This all-electric vehicle came into production in 2019. This vehicle can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.0 sec which is good. But the main concern with this vehicle is the range. This vehicle discharges very quickly compared to other models resulting in a less driving range. This vehicle has a starting price of $82,700 which is really huge for a vehicle of such capabilities.

8. Volkswagen ID.4

This is a compact SUV which is in production from 2020. This vehicle is made in such a way that. The vehicle’s looks don’t even justify the price tag of $41,000. Along with this, the vehicle has many issues infotainment system. And speaking about the ride quality this vehicle has the worst handling. The vehicle has a starting price of $35,000 and it doesn’t offer much driving range for base trims.
