Only 64 road cars were produced from the total of 106 units, making them incredibly rare. However, the F1 commands high prices for other reasons besides scarcity. Approximately three and a half months were required to produce each supercar, which is also quite impressive.

The McLaren F1’s uniqueness was further enhanced by the fact that it was created by Gordon Murray, a legendary designer. Since 1969, the car’s chief designer has been drafting a one-plus-two seating arrangement. And thanks to the F1, his arrowhead concept was finally made public two decades later. Murray collaborated with McLaren’s engineering staff on additional futuristic components. For instance, they devised novel strategies to increase downforce while lowering weight and drag. Additionally, they used a carbon fibre chassis for a production car for the first time ever.
