These engines are sourced from motorcycles, especially brands that manufacture both motorcycles and cars, like Honda. The cars are a mix of hot hatches, sports cars, and everything. These cars stand-out in the crowd and are fun to drive.
10. Toyota GR Yaris
This Toyota sandwich; a Toyota hot hatch, the GR Yaris is currently for sale and is the closest thing to a road-legal rally car. Under the hood lies a 1.6L turbocharged inline-three producing 268 hp. The car has AWD and a 6-speed stickshift.

The Fiesta ST is Ford’s greatest hot hatch ever built, sitting just behind the iconic Focus RS. The last-gen ST had a 1.6L EcoBoost four-cylinder that produced 200 hp in the ST200 variant. But, the latest Fiesta ST sports a 1.5L turbocharged three-cylinder engine that offers under 200 hp. The car still manages to sprint 0-60 mph in just 6.5 seconds.

This $147,500 BMW comes with a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine and an 11.6-kWh battery pack and two electric motors. This is capable of generating 369 horsepower and has a top speed of 155 miles per hour and can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 4.2 seconds.
7. Volvo XC40
Volvo’s XC40 is a subcompact SUV that loves to spice things up. The three-cylinder engine is purely powered by gasoline. The 127-hp T2 and the 161-hp T3.

The ultimate Kei car was produced between 1991 and 1996. The Honda Beat was a reply to Mazda’s first-gen Miata, but a very small, and very underpowered one. The mid-engined car boasted a 656 cc inline-three that offered just over 60 hp to the rear wheels.

The Audi A2 was powered by normal gasoline engines, but they all were four cylinders. But, there was a three-cylinder diesel 1.4L TDI that produced 90 hp, and run from 0-60 mph in 11 seconds.

The German automaker Volkswagen made a hot hatch, The Up! GTI. This car might not be as diehard as a Golf GTI, or even a Polo GTI, but it’s still a compact. The 1.0L engine pumps out 116 hp and weighs just 2,200 lbs. Though it might not be good on a straight road, it can hold the road in tight corners.
3. Daihatsu Copen GR Sport
Daihatsu a sub-brand of Toyota since 2016, has made a pretty aggressive roadster in the form of Copen GR Sport. As Toyota loves to put the Gazoo Racing badge in their cars, this car has received that Gazoo Racing treatment with a set of BBS wheels. Along with that, a Momo branded steering wheel, bucket seats from Recaro and special tuned suspension for sporty handling. But sadly, the Copen GR Sport was a Japan-only model.

2. Toyota GR Corolla
Toyota is bringing its GR Drivetrain with the 2023 GR Corolla. Equipped with the same 1.6L turbocharged three-cylinder and GT-Four AWD system similar to the GR Yaris. Also, it comes with a six-speed manual. For American preferences, Toyota gave the GR Corolla more power by tuning it to 300 hp and 370 Nm of torque rather than 257 hp and 360 Nm of torque.
1. Koenigsegg Gemera
Koenigsegg unveiled the limited-production hybrid GT at the Geneva Motor Show in 2020 and the most highlighting feature is the 3000 Nm of torque which destroys every other rival. Unlike the other Koenigsegg cars, the Gemera can accommodate four people despite having two doors. The drivetrain is made up of a 3-cylinder engine and three electric motors with overall output of 1,700 horsepower and a top speed of 249 mph.
