Engine, Power & Performance

There are two variants available, the eight-cylinder GLS580 and the six-cylinder GLS450, both of which include some hybridization. The 3.0-liter inline-six turbocharged in the GLS450 is as smooth as polished granite and gains 375 horsepower for the 2024 model year. The twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 in the GLS580 produces 510 horsepower, making it significantly more potent. The 2020 GLS450 tested well, managing a quick 5.5-second sprint to 60 mph and a quick 154-foot stop from 70 mph.

Price & Features

We would recommend sticking with the GLS450 and using the extra money to get some upgrades because the turbocharged inline-six in that vehicle has just as much power and smoothness as the V-8 in the GLS580. The GLS-Class starts at $85,000. The dashboard is dominated by two massive 12.3-inch digital panels. One conducts infotainment functions and runs Mercedes-Benz’s MBUX software, which includes a virtual assistant similar to the iPhone. The other does infotainment chores.
