Citroen C3X has been caught spied testing in India, possible launch in 2024
Citroen has ventured into the core mass segments in India with models like the C3 and C3 Aircross. And is now set to introduce a unique offering, the Citroen C3X. This upcoming Citreon C3X is a notchback sedan with a high-riding stance and SUV-inspired design features. The upcoming sedan has recently been spied under heavy camouflage. The Citroen C3X will stand out in the market and will combine a notchback body style with SUV aesthetics.
Citreon C3X Design & Styling Elements
The most notable feature of the C3X is its notchback body style which is a rarity in mass-market models, especially when coupled with SUV design cues. This design, with a lifted rear windscreen and boot lid, was previously seen in luxury cars and earlier in Indian models like the Hyundai Accent Viva and Skoda Octavia. The Citroen C3X’s distinctive look also includes a high-riding stance, evident in the spy shots, with expected ground clearance comparable to the C3 Aircross (200mm).
While the heavy camouflage conceals many styling details, certain elements suggest similarities with the C3 Aircross in the bonnet, front fenders, and front doors. However, beyond the front doors, the C3X is expected to feature new elements, especially in the gently sloping window line and rear doors. The rear end might draw inspiration from the C4X sold in Europe, and it could potentially be named C3 Fastlounge based on trademark filings.
Platform and Powertrain:
The C3X will share the modular CMP platform with other Citroen models which highlights its economies of scale. The upcoming Citreon C3X will offer a variety of power trail options including a 110-hp 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. The engine comes paired with both manual and automatic transmissions. Additionally, an all-electric version might join the lineup approximately six months after the petrol variant’s launch, called the e-C3X.
Expected Launch and Price:
While Citroen has not officially announced the launch timeline. We speculate the launch will happen in June-July 2024, with the electric version expected in January or February 2025. The upcoming C3X will target competitors like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus, and Skoda Slavia. The sedan will serve a niche for itself as a crossover sedan with a unique design.
