Jeep Compass Specifications & Features
The 2023 Jeep Compass is back for 2023 with a new motor and standard all-wheel drive after its facelift last year brought in some much-needed interior and exterior quality-of-life changes. Each Compass is equipped by Jeep with a 200-hp 2.0-liter inline-four turbocharged with an eight-speed automated gearbox. A lower crawl gear and other off-road accessories are available in the Trailhawk trim, which steers the vehicle in the direction of the wilderness but doesn’t make it a Wrangler. The Compass, a more compact version of the Cherokee, prioritizes economy over interior spaciousness.
What’s New?
With a 200-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four—a less potent variation of the engine used in the new Dodge Hornet—the Compass receives a new powerplant for 2023. It offers a nice increase in power over the prior 2.4-liter engine, which, depending on specification, produced either 177 or 180 hp. Since the all-wheel drive is now standard, the front-wheel drive Compass will no longer be available.
Jeep Compass Engine, Power, Performance & Acceleration
A new 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four with 200 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque powers every Compass. All-wheel drive is now standard on all Compass models, and it is connected to an eight-speed gearbox. The low “crawler” gear ratio and rock mode added to Trailhawk models allow the Compass to remain in first gear and only send torque to wheels that have traction. The Compass responds well to inputs and feels more agile than its towering, boxy look would imply. The steering is also beautifully weighted. The Compass feels well-controlled, firmly grounded, and capable on the road despite slight lean during sharp turns.

The 2023 Compass’s new 2.0-liter turbo-four is both more powerful and more efficient than the 2.4-liter naturally aspirated engine it replaces, according to the EPA, which rates it at 24 mpg city and 32 mpg highway.
Dimensions & Space
A larger 10.1-inch touchscreen is also offered, with the normal touchscreen measuring 8.4 inches. The Compass offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration in addition to natural voice recognition and navigation.

By remaining with the base Sport model, we would maximize the value of Compass. It has an all-wheel drive to assist you get through difficult situations and standard safety features like tire pressure monitors, forward collision warning with active braking, and blind-spot monitoring to help you completely avoid difficult situations. While not as strong as the LED projectors featured on Compass Latitude, Limited, High Altitude, and Trailhawk, LED reflector headlights are still significantly brighter than the halogen bulbs offered on base Ford Escapes.
