Maserati Ghibli Specifications & Features

The 2023 Maserati Ghibli is an Italian-inspired sports car with powerful twin-turbo engines and swoon-worthy aesthetics. Neither will you discover any weak four-cylinders here. The 345-hp twin-turbo V-6 engine that comes standard on the Ghibli can be increased to 424 horsepower in the mid-range Modena variant. The twin-turbo V-8 Trofeo, which generates a strong 580 horsepower, is the most shredded model. The Ghibli’s chassis is optimised for enjoyment, with sports-car quick handling matched with a polished enough ride to appease affluent buyers who might otherwise choose an Audi A6 or a Mercedes-Benz E-class. Unfortunately, the interior of the Ghibli lacks that finesse. The trim is made of a variety of materials, beginning with the typical leather, wood, and metal. These more luxurious finishes, however, are mixed together with some cheap plastic components and poor fit and finish.

What’s New?

The Ghibli doesn’t see any big alterations for 2023, but the entrance price does. The base GT model has increased by about $9000 since last year. The Modena’s price has increased by $11,000, and the Trofeo’s price has increased by $10,000. Speaking of the Trofeo, Maserati has said that 2023 will be the final year for the scorching V-8 engine. As a type of farewell to the eight-cylinder, a select number of Ghibli 334 Ultima vehicles based on the Trofeo will be made.

The Ghibli’s standard configuration features a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine with 345 horsepower and rear-wheel drive; the Modena model has 424 horsepower. By choosing the range-topping Trofeo model, you get a 3.8-liter V-8 engine with a twin-turbocharged 580 horsepower. Although all-wheel drive is an option with the V-6, rear-wheel drive remains the default. An eight-speed automatic gearbox is available for both engines. In 2014, we tested a S model and fell in love with the unusual noises it created. It managed a 4.7-second zero-to-60-mph time at our test track, which was quick for 2014 but can now be beaten by a non-AMG Mercedes-Benz E-class. Since then, Maserati has increased the output of its V-6 engine’s power to 424 horsepower. We predict that the Trofeo model, which is powered by a V-8 engine, can accelerate from zero to sixty miles per hour in under 3.7 seconds.

Ghibli Fuel-Economy

The Ghibli’s EPA fuel-economy ratings are lower than the typical mid-size luxury car because it doesn’t offer a base four-cylinder engine. When choosing all-wheel drive, the rear-wheel-drive V-6 cars’ ratings drop to 17 mpg in the city from 18 mpg on the interstate. The V-8-powered Trofeo is capable of 20 mpg on the interstate and 13 mpg in the city.

A 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a glossy display and a modified version of Google’s Android Automotive user interface is standard on all Ghibli versions. Standard features include navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Audiophiles will be pleased to discover that Maserati offers two distinct premium systems as upgrades in addition to the eight-speaker audio system that comes as standard. The first system has 10 speakers from Harman/Kardon, and the second has 15 speakers from Bowers & Wilkins.

Ghibli Price

It is true that the Ghibli’s starting price is exorbitant. The average price of a mid-size luxury vehicle starts at roughly $55,000 and rises from there. But those competing sedans also come standard with turbocharged four-cylinder engines before moving up to more potent V-6s as the price increases. The twin-turbo V-6 is standard on the Ghibli instead of a four-cylinder engine. The Modena variant is what we’d advise because it unlocks 424 ponies and covers more of the Ghibli’s interior with real leather.
