The 2023 McLaren GT is the closest thing the business has created to a comfortable grand touring vehicle. In other words, it’s more of a road-based rocket ship than a luxurious Grand Touring car, and it’s a little less edgy and a little more practical than the other supercars in the McLaren lineup. This is because its DNA is essentially the same as that of the now-discontinued 600LT track-focused model, but with a stronger focus on daily usability than the quickest lap times. Even though it may not be as incredibly speedy as McLaren models like the 720S and the hybridized Artura, it does offer a roomier cabin and more practical cargo capacity. Regarding the comparison to a rocket ship, the GT ran quarter miles at 133 mph in 10.7 seconds and reached 60 mph in 2.8 seconds.

What’s New?
In addition to the current three-year limited and powertrain warranties, McLaren is introducing a three-year service plan for 2023; all three coverages have unlimited miles. The GT also gains a new Stealth Badge Package, a branded armrest option, and two additional exterior colors: Storm Grey and Volcano Yellow, in addition to the upkeep that is already featured. Dihedral doors are used to enter this McLaren, which is an uncommon feature for grand tourers. The GT is at a disadvantage when compared to other vehicles in its class in terms of passenger capacity. This coupe only has room for two passengers, unlike the majority of cars in this sector, which seat four or more. Compared to the standard McLaren, the cabin is more opulent and makes extensive use of supple skin. The basic upholstery material is Nappa leather, but other choices include microfiber and cashmere.
Engine & Performance
The GT is equipped by McLaren with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine that makes 612 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. The rear wheels receive power through a seven-speed automatic transmission that is mated to it. One of the GT’s many performance advantages is its blistering acceleration, as you would expect from a car bearing the McLaren badge. We haven’t had a coupe to test to confirm the company’s claim that it accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds. The vehicle has launch control and other components that maximize acceleration after a standing start. The GT has a variety of driving modes that let you tailor the car’s handling to your preferences, and the ride quality is comfortable enough to make it a pleasant choice for daily driving.

The GT’s tech features include a 7.0-inch touchscreen with portrait orientation, whose graphics, according to the company, were influenced by those found on private planes. A four-speaker sound system, SiriusXM satellite radio, and navigation are all included as standard. Optionally available is a 12-speaker Bowers & Wilkins system.

McLaren sells the GT in a single trim level decked out with enough amenities to please the typical buyer in this class. The car boasts a staggered wheel layout, with 20-inch rims in the front and 21-inch rims in the rear. All models are equipped with LED headlamps. The lights come with rain and light sensors as well as sequential LED indicators. In back, a fixed rear spoiler sits above slim LED taillights, a large rear diffuser, and sizable exhaust tailpipes.
