Mercedes-AMG S63 Specifications & Features
The 2023 Mercedes-AMG AMG S63 supersedan is back in a big way after missing a year of manufacturing. The S63, which uses the seventh-generation architecture of the Mercedes-Benz S-class, offers glamour with more power than ever owing to a new plug-in hybrid powertrain. Mercedes will only offer the S63 as a sedan going forward after discontinuing the coupe and convertible body types previously available. AMG’s rear electric motor works in conjunction with the twin-turbo V8 under the hood to provide a whopping 1055 pound-feet of torque and 791 horsepower for the AWD system to try and use on the road. The new AMG S63 is a speedy and comfortable way to usher in the industry’s electrified future as a chariot for the wealthy with maximal performance in mind.
What’s New?
The AMG-badged S-class returns to the prestige-on-wheels market after a brief absence, building on the foundation of the existing Benz S-class in production and pairing it with a promising high-power hybrid drivetrain. While the AMG S63 prioritizes comfort, the huge horsepower will warm the hearts of aficionados. It has a luxurious interior with recognizable AMG leather and stitching. Dolby Atmos is a standard audio system that provides a 360-degree audio experience.
Mercedes-AMG S63 Engine, Power & Performance
The Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team has been working on creating a high-performance battery that can give a dependable performance at the top level of motorsports for a very long time. With the new hybridized powertrain found in the AMG S63 E Performance, those who drive on the road are now reaping the benefits of these efforts. A 603-hp twin-turbo V8 engine up front and a 188-hp motor for the back axle power the most potent S-class ever made. Together, they generate 1055 pound-feet of torque and 791 horsepower for the sedan’s all-wheel-drive system to use.
A nine-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission handles shifting and, to help this barge of power navigate traffic and parking spots, AMG includes rear-axle steering as standard equipment. Mercedes estimates the S-class can make it to 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 180 mph. That’s quicker than the feistiest version of the standard Benz S-class, which took 3.9 seconds to reach 60 mph with 496 horsepower. Given the massive power available to hurl it down the road, we suspect the that S63 E Performance will be even quicker than its maker claims. The S63 uses an AMG Ride Control air suspension, AMG Active Ride Control stabilization, and rear-axle steering as standard equipment, so it should handle well.
Mercedes-AMG S63 Mileage
2023 Mercedes-AMG S63 Mileage | City | Highway |
S63 AMG | 16 mpg | 25 mpg |
AMG claims that the switch to a plug-in hybrid powertrain, which is assisted by a new 13.1 kWh battery, is made with performance rather than range in mind. The new S63 E Performance has not yet received an EPA rating, but if the Mercedes-Benz S580’s ratings of 16 mpg city and 25 mpg highway are any indicators, we believe it is safe to assume that the hybrid S63 won’t deliver results that would be regarded as mind-blowing when compared to them. The battery-only electric driving mode of the S63, which is capable of 87 mph top speeds, has a range of around 20 miles, according to Mercedes.

The S63 sedan offers a smorgasbord of options that can customize the automobile for both drivers and those who prefer to be driven, as opposed to offering a tower of several grades. The S63 is the brand’s top model and offers a level of comfort that is unrivaled by even the most luxurious apartments as standard equipment. Although they are an option, carbon ceramic brakes are not something we would consider essential for daily driving.
