RAM 1500 TRX Specifications & Features
Although dragons are familiar creatures in folklore, we’d contend that giant flying iguanas are more likely to exist given that the 2023 RAM 1500 TRX breathes fire and has sufficient suspension travel to evident most castles. The fastest gas-powered vehicle, the TRX can devour off-road miles faster than others. The monster’s 3.7 seconds to 60 mph were impressive. As a result, it can outrun a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 to the next stoplight despite weighing 6800 pounds more. Its days as the top predator are limited, though, as Ford is about to release the Raptor R, a natural predator with more than 700 horsepower. Other than that, the only things that threaten TRX’s hegemony are city traffic, parking spaces that aren’t particularly large, and trips to the petrol station that empty pockets like robberies.
What’s New?
As the powerful Ram 1500 TRX enters the third year of its model lifecycle, nothing changes for 2023. We don’t see why anyone would want to alter this beast in the first place. A limited-edition Havoc Edition with special Baja Yellow paint and Prowler Yellow interior stitching will be available for the 2023 TRX. With its most recent half-ton pickups, which have luxurious-looking materials and excellent noise insulation, Ram has completely altered expectations for truck cabins. The TRX, which is only available as a crew cab with a short cargo bed, appears to maintain that degree of elegance and comfort. The inside of the base model borrows the Ram 1500 Rebel’s standard features and cloth upholstery.
RAM 1500 TRX Engine, Power, Acceleration & Performance
A supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8 is concealed beneath the TRX’s scooped hood and between its protruding fenders. This particular version of the engine, which is more often referred to as the Hellcat engine, generates 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque that is distributed to all four wheels via an eight-speed automated gearbox. During testing, the TRX reached 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds and ran the quarter mile at 110 mph in 12.3 seconds. It is the quickest pickup because of this. The Hellcat-powered Ram is surprisingly smooth and simple to drive on paved roads, despite its substantial curb weight and big size. Even so, the exhaust pipes of its supercharged V8 are poised to make thrilling noises. The TRX is designed to play in the sand, rocks, and mud as well.
It has a strengthened steel frame and a suspension with more than 13 inches of travel that is designed to bend and bound. It has 18-inch wheels mounted on a set of enormous 35-inch all-terrain tires, which help the truck’s 11.8-inch ground clearance. Ram claims that the half-ton Hellcat can also cross the water as deep as 32 inches. Every TRX comes equipped with massive 15.0-inch front brakes, electronic-locking rear differentials, remote-reservoir Bilstein dampers, and enough underbody armor to shield a Brink’s truck. The TRX can still draw a considerable amount even though it can’t tow as much as some Ram models, which are now certified at up to 12,750 pounds. It can tow up to 8100 pounds, and it can also carry payloads of up to 1310 pounds.

Every TRX comes equipped with a 12.0-inch touchscreen entertainment system that is vertically positioned in the center of the dashboard. The device features SiriusXM satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. In addition to having physical knobs and buttons on the screen’s surrounding bezel for more user-friendly controls, the display may be separated into distinct menus so that numerous apps can be running simultaneously. Unfortunately, the 12.0-inch center touchscreen on our long-term TRX suffered numerous blackouts, which we haven’t noticed with the company’s Uconnect systems, which have smaller screens. A powerful Harman/Kardon audio system with 19 speakers and 900 watts of power is also available for the truck.

The TRX is a lot of vehicles for the money even though it has a starting price of just around $80,000. Although the base model is undoubtedly well-equipped, it is missing some functions that we would assume to be included as standard. For instance, a heated steering wheel and heated front seats are only offered with the Level 1 package and cost extra. This increases the price by about $4000 while bringing a plethora of enhancements. Highlights include a storage space behind the back seat, a flat-bottom steering wheel covered in leather and microsuede, and seats with leather detailing. To maximize the pickup’s capacity for pulling, we’d choose both that and the Trailer-Tow package.
