The base turbo-four Acura TLX achieves a 0-60 mph time of 5.9 seconds. While the more powerful TLX Type S, equipped with the turbo V6, delivers a faster 0-60 time of 4.9 seconds. All TLX models feature a 12.3-inch infotainment system primarily controlled through a touchpad on the center console. The 540i comes with AWD as standard and is equipped with a 375-hp turbocharged inline-six, both augmented by a 48-volt hybrid system. The plug-in hybrid 550e combines an inline-six engine with an electric motor, delivering a total of 483 hp, and comes with standard AWD. The ride is smooth, yet the 530i retains a subtle sense of athleticism. Generous cornering grip is enhanced, especially with the M Sport package’s upgraded suspension. Speaking of the M Sport package, it also includes improved brakes, resulting in an impressive 156-foot stop from 70 mph. The 550e xDrive plug-in hybrid is equipped with a 19.4-kWh battery pack, expected to provide approximately 40 miles of driving range per charge.

The BMW 5-series is priced starting at $58,895 for the 530i and goes up to $74,795 for the 550e xDrive. At the test track, the AWD 530i xDrive reached 60 mph in 5.5 seconds, while BMW claims the 540i is potent enough to achieve 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. All 5-series models feature a large curved digital panel housing a 12.3-inch reconfigurable gauge display and a 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen. While a head-up display is optional, all models come standard with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a Harman/Kardon stereo system, and a video game system BMW calls AirConsole, which can only be used when the car is parked.
