Chevrolet Equinox EV Motor, Battery, Range & Performance
The Equinox EV offers an FWD option with a 210-hp electric motor while upgrading to the AWD system boosts power to 290 hp. For most drivers, the FWD setup should suffice, thanks to the prompt power delivery characteristic of electric motors. This immediacy is expected to give the SUV a lively character, especially in urban settings. Take the smaller Bolt EUV, for example, which has a single onboard motor producing 10 hp less. Yet still achieves a commendable 6.8-second 0-60 mph run on a test track.
For the basic Equinox EV models, the battery is smaller, giving an estimated 250 miles per charge. Upgrade to other models for a larger battery, extending the range to 300 miles. However, opting for AWD reduces it to 280 miles. All cars feature DC fast charging, claiming a rapid 70-mile range boost in just 10 minutes. Transitioning between models, it’s evident that the battery size impacts the range, but Chevy ensures a speedy recharge with the fast-charging capability. So, even with the smaller battery, you’re looking at an impressive 250 miles before needing to juice up.
