What’s New?
The news made the headlines via social media courtesy of Ford’s CEO Jim Farley. Fortunately, car enthusiasts have an additional reason to rejoice, as the Mustang will come with a six-speed manual transmission. Making a more engaging way of swapping cogs. Also, note the #savethemanuals hashtag in his Twitter post. In addition to the stick shift, Ford has also confirmed a V8 engine powering the next-gen pony car. And it sounds similar, as earlier this year a spy video of a prototype emitted the same V8. For now, the specific engine size hasn’t been confirmed, but expect a 5.0L V8.

Also, rumors say the EcoBoost and 5.0L souls will carry over from the current gen, at least at launch. Meaning power figures will likely be close to the current 460 hp in the GT and 310 hp for the EcoBoost 2.3-L four-pot. There are also talks of a hybrid powertrain but, there is a possibility of the first AWD Mustang coupe. This arrangement could see electric power for the front wheels while the V8 drives the back. But, many questions will be answered on Sept. 14. The 2024 Ford Mustang will make great headlines at the revamped North American International Detroit Auto Show. This will take place both inside Huntington Place and outside at various locations in downtown Detroit.
