The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is an exceptional electric vehicle that won the 2022 EV of the Year award. Hyundai is now developing a high-performance N model for enthusiasts who crave thrilling performance. Unlike simply rebranding another model, the Ioniq 5 N will have unique tuning by Hyundai’s N division, offering its own distinctive driving experience. On the other hand, the 2023 Tesla Model Y, while popular among buyers and having a longer driving range than competitors like the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Volkswagen ID.4, falls short in comparison. The Model Y feels less agile on twisty roads, and its interior uses lower-quality materials. Additionally, all the SUV’s controls are accessed through a single infotainment display mounted on the dashboard.

Gone are the days when the Model Y had a budget-friendly Standard Range rear-wheel drive option. But honestly, it’s no big deal. The Long Range and Performance models of the Model Y are far more enticing than the Standard Range trim. Plus, the upcoming base model will feature the same impressive dual-motor all-wheel drive system as the other two. With its all-wheel-drive capability, the Long Range variant can go from zero to 60 mph in a blazing 4.4 seconds, while the Performance model takes it up a notch with a lightning-fast 3.6-second sprint to 60 mph in testing.

When it comes to electric cars, driving range is a top priority, and both the Long Range and Performance models of the Model Y deliver impressive mileage, with 330 and 303 miles of range, respectively. If we were to choose, we’d opt for the Long Range variant, as it offers an excellent balance of driving range and performance. However, it’s worth noting that customization options for the Model Y are somewhat limited, with only five exterior color choices, three of which come at an additional cost. For those interested in the optional third row of seats, they can be added for an extra $3000. The starting price for the Model Y is $52,630. In terms of functionality, the Model Y relies heavily on a large, sleek infotainment display situated prominently in the center of the dashboard.
