However, the impending 2024 Jeep Recon EV is coming to crawl rocks. Electric vehicles have made their impact across nearly every market, zapping into classes of vehicles like full-size pickup trucks, station wagons, and luxury SUVs. The four-wheel-drive Recon EV is a fully electric mid-size SUV with a power-folding rooftop and easily detachable doors that was inspired by the Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid. The Ford Bronco is the only pony having those tricks, aside from the Wrangler. Initial renderings show a spare tire mounted on the tailboard, but no information regarding the vehicle’s cost, range, battery size, or overall power output has been made public. Thoughtful BFGoodrich T/A rubber, a seven-slot lighted front grille, and up to five seats above-rubberized flooring can all be seen.

As one of two new electric models to the Jeep portfolio, the Recon EV will join the impending Wagoneer EV. We anticipate the Jeep Recon EV to be about the same size as the current Jeep Wrangler or two-row Grand Cherokee because it belongs to the mid-size SUV class. The Recon EV will go on sale for reservations in early 2023, according to Jeep, and production is scheduled to begin sometime in 2024.

Jeep hasn’t yet disclosed the starting price of the Recon EV, but we believe it’s realistic to expect that it will be more expensive than the Wrangler with a petrol engine. We believe there is a fair likelihood the Recon EV will adopt the Wrangler’s trim hierarchy, starting with an entry-level Sport trim and quickly rising in price and opulence until reaching a fully equipped Sahara High Altitude variant, given its potential off-road prowess.
