Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe Specifications & Features
The 2024 Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe gets its smarts and strength from the SL roadster. It’s grown longer, wider, and with a stretched wheelbase. The major headline is the standard AWD system, a first for the AMG GT. You can pick any engine you fancy, but it’s got to be the twin-turbo 4.0L V8. Whether you go for the GT55 with 469 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque or the GT63 with a beefier 577 horses and 590 lb-ft of torque. You’re in for a noticeable difference. The new GT Coupe boasts cool chassis features like a hydraulic anti-roll system and rear-wheel steering. Giving it a boost in handling. Perfect for chasing down Porsche 911 Turbos on the track.
What’s New?
Hold on to what you loved about the AMG GT and let go of the rest. The overhauled 2024 Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe keeps the trusty twin-turbo 4.0L V8 engine but introduces new trim levels and throws in standard AWD. It’s longer, has a roomier interior, provides more cargo space, and is set to hit the market around mid-2024.
Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe Engine, Power & Performance
Both the GT55 and GT63 pack Mercedes’ twin-turbo 4.0L V8 engine, paired with a fresh nine-speed automatic transmission. The GT53 delivers 469 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, while the GT63 ramps it up with 577 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. Mercedes claims the GT63 can hit 60 mph in 3 seconds. The new standard AWD system not only enhances acceleration by providing better launch traction but also allows for 100 percent of the engine’s torque to be sent to the rear axle for some smoky burnouts and donuts. With rear-wheel steering and an electronically-controlled limited-slip differential, the GT stays nimble. To tackle tricky driveways and speed bumps, the optional nose-lift system lifts the front end by 1.2 inches.
Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe Mileage
2024 Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe Mileage | City | Highway |
GT63 Coupe | 14 mpg | 21 mpg |
With all that horsepower, the AMG GT Coupe is likely to be a bit thirsty. But the EPA hasn’t released its estimates yet. To give you an idea, the previous-generation 577-hp AMG GT R Pro had ratings of 15 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway. Considering the new car has AWD and possibly more weight to carry, it’s not expected to do any better.

Pricing
2024 Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe Trims | Price (USD) |
GT55 | $160,000 (est) |
GT63 | $180,000 (est) |
The price difference between the GT55 and the GT63 is expected to be a notable $20,000. If that seems like a chunk of change, think about the substantial boost in excitement with a whopping 577 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. There’s an optional package that throws in carbon-ceramic brakes, larger than the standard wheels on a full-size Sprinter delivery van. While the official pricing hasn’t been revealed, when you’re shelling out six figures for a car like this, aiming for the most powerful version makes a compelling case.
