Porsche’s Macan SUV, the brand’s best-seller since 2016, introduces an all-electric variant for 2024. Despite sharing the Macan name, the EV version rides on a new platform, featuring a dual-motor powertrain with up to 630 hp in the Turbo model. Boasting a range surpassing the Taycan, it uses an 800-volt electrical system for rapid charging, achieving 10 to 80 per cent in just 21 minutes. On the other hand, Tesla’s Model X, a longstanding fixture in their lineup, offers two models. The Long Range with 670 hp and 335 miles of range, and the high-performance Plaid with 1020 hp and 326 miles of range. While delivering impressive acceleration, the Model X faces scrutiny for its minimalistic interior and build quality when compared to newer competitors like the BMW iX and Rivian R1S.

Porsche hasn’t shared all the details about the Macan EV’s power setup yet. But what we do know is that it will have two motors, AWD, and go up to 603 hp for the fanciest model. There might be a version with just one motor and 2WD later on. We don’t know how far it can go on a single charge yet, but Porsche says it’ll be more than the current Taycan. Which can do about 227 miles on a full charge. The Macan EV will charge up real quick, thanks to its 800-volt setup, going up to 270 kilowatts. A test car drove over 250 miles on the highway and still had about 11 per cent battery left. Which makes it seem like it might go around 300 miles on one charge.
Price
The 2024 Porsche Macan EV is anticipated to begin at approximately $80,000 for the Base model and reach around $100,000 for the GTS. More details about the various Macan EV versions and their prices will become clear as we approach the electric crossover’s release date.
Tesla Model X

Furthermore, its projected driving range of approximately 333 miles falls behind the more economical base model, making the latter a wiser selection for budget-conscious buyers. With an attractive velocity, the starting-priced base Model X at $101,380 presents an ample estimated range of 348 miles. In comparison to other electric SUVs of similar size, the Model X secures the EPA’s highest MPGe ratings, with base models achieving scores of 107 city, 97 highway, and 102 combined MPGe.
Acceleration & Features
This configuration offers ample swiftness, with Tesla asserting a 3.8-second zero-to-60-mph acceleration. In contrast, the 1020-hp three-motor Plaid high-performance model boasts an even more impressive 2.5-second 0-60-mph time. The dashboard prominently features a large touchscreen infotainment system, responsible for managing various vehicle functions. Additionally, a supplementary digital readout serves as the gauge cluster, conveniently positioned in the driver’s line of sight.
