Toyota revived the X-Runner name for a 2024 Toyota Tacoma X-Runner sport-truck concept. It’s not your typical off-road focus; this one boasts a lowered suspension, added power, and various tweaks. The truck’s team tailored the control arms’ length to suit the Tacoma’s lowered stance. Strengthening the frame and widening the track by approximately three inches, Toyota enhances stability. The springs receive an upgrade for added firmness, complemented by 2.5-inch Bilstein shocks at each corner. Riding on Lacks Enterprises 21-inch carbon-fiber wheels with forged aluminum centers and Michelin 285/45R21 Sport Tires. This setup contributes to a robust and stylish performance.

The Tacoma X-Runner concept, packs a beefed-up version of the Tundra’s twin-turbo 3.4L V-6 engine, boasting a hefty 421 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. That’s a significant jump from the 2024 Tacoma’s most potent option, a 326-hp four-cylinder hybrid. The rear wheels get their power from a Tundra-inspired solid axle with a 4.30:1 final drive and an electronic locking differential. Notably, the exhaust pipe now runs just below the rocker panel on the truck’s side. This SEMA creation comes equipped with the Tundra’s RD Performance Package software, available for purchase next year. Get ready for a power-packed ride with this upgraded Tacoma concept.
