Here are the 6 new midsize electric SUVs that are launching soon in India in 2024
In the lineup of upcoming midsize electric SUVs, we’ve detailed models from Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata, Mahindra, and Citroen. As the demand for electric SUVs continues to surge, the market has become intensely competitive, with expectations of even fiercer rivalry in the years to come. Major automotive manufacturers are gearing up to enter this expanding sector either in 2024 or 2025, highlighting the ongoing shift towards electrification.
1. Maruti Suzuki eVX & Toyota Compact E-SUV:
The Maruti Suzuki eVX will debut later this year, marking the brand’s foray into the electric vehicle market. Its Toyota counterpart to follow suit in early 2025. This midsize electric SUV will offer two battery options and be available in both front-wheel-drive (FWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) configurations. With a 60 kWh battery pack, the E-SUV will be able to achieve a range of approximately 550 km. The design of the Toyota electric SUV will be based on the Urban SUV concept unveiled earlier.
2. Citroen eC3 Aircross:
The electric version of the C3 Aircross midsize SUV is set to be introduced in late 2024 or early 2025 and will share many similarities with its ICE sibling. It will be based on the modified version of the CMP platform and could be offered in both five- and seven-seater layouts. Expect the driving range to exceed 450 km.
3. Tata Curvv EV:
Tata Motors is gearing up for the launch of the Curvv EV in mid-2024. This SUV coupe represents the second Tata model built on the Acti.ev platform. Upon its debut, buyers will be able to choose between two battery options, with the larger one offering a range of over 500 kilometres on a single charge. The production version was unveiled earlier this month.
4. Mahindra XUV.e8
Expected to hit showrooms by late 2024, the Mahindra XUV.e8 will be built on the INGLO platform, drawing notable design cues from its ICE counterpart, the XUV700. With an estimated driving range of over 450 km, it will inherit numerous features from its internal combustion-engined sibling.
5. Hyundai Creta EV:
By the end of 2024, Hyundai is likely to unveil the electric version of the Creta, with LG Chem supplying the batteries. Distinguishing itself from the recently updated ICE Creta, the electric variant will feature a unique exterior design. Additionally, rumours are suggesting that the front-wheel-drive electric motor may be shared with the entry-level Kona Electric.
