Overview

The Lotus Eletre EV crossover is finally here after years of waiting. The word Eletre means “Coming to Life” in Eastern European Language, and the model has the spirit of the Traditional Lotus car but with crossover viability.

The Eletre EV is based on Lotus’ Electric Premium Architecture platform. The front fascia is adapted from the design elements of the Lotus Emira sports car shaped into a crossover. Equipped with split headlights, running lights at the leading edge of the hood following the current trend, headlamps are in the lower blacked-out section of the fascia.

With active aerodynamics using interconnecting triangular pieces that open when the motors, battery pack, and brakes require cooling are equipped with the grille. This EV doesn’t lack behind in terms of tech as it comes with deployable Lidar sensors, placed two on the roof, one above the windshield and one above the rear glass. Also, each side of the body has sensors near the front fender, using the cameras as side mirrors.

This EV is claimed to be capable of “end-to-end autonomous driving.”, supporting OTA updates for further improvements to the system. The dashboard doesn’t have a traditional instrument panel, instead, the area in front of the driver is a thin strip that’s less than 1.18 inches tall. For the passenger side, the same matching piece shows info like the music selection or nearby points of interest. The centre console is a 15.1-inch landscape-oriented screen and a head-up display as standard.

Battery and Range

Equipped with a 100 kWh battery pack, the Elite gets a WLTP range rating of 373 miles and can charge at up to a claimed 350 kW, adding 248 miles in 20 minutes.

Top Speed & 0-60

The powerful dual-motor configuration, pumps out around 600 hp, allowing it to accelerate to 62 mph (100 km/h) in under 3 seconds; the top speed is 161 mph (260 km/h).
