2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport is a vehicle that has the perfect balance of off-road capability, luxury accommodations, and the status of an upper-crust image. Something from Land Rover’s flagship Range Rover lineup should do just fine. But if one’s budget is slightly less elastic, the Rover Sport is an alternative that’s nearly as satisfying. Despite its smaller size, the Sport has a similar attitude to the more expensive Range Rover, but with an added dose of taurine. A trio of powerhouses are offered, which includes a hybrid inline-six, a plug-in hybrid inline-six, and a mega twin-turbo V8 is a good variety of choices. The cabin is upscale and well-equipped with desirable tech. However, all this stature doesn’t come cheap, though, and the Rover Sport’s starting price is higher than other premium SUVs such as the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE-class, and Volvo XC90.

What’s New in 2023 Range Rover Sport?
Similar to the elder Range Rover, the mid-size Sport has graciously received a full revamp, that includes fresh styling, a redesigned cabin, and cutting-edge tech. An all-electric Range Rover Sport EV is expected to enter the market next year as a 2024 model. The cabin design is made with a more minimalist approach this time, with a reduction in the number of buttons and switches. This makes it more like a streamlined appearance throughout the cabin. Owners can choose from either textile or genuine leather upholstery in attractive dual-tone designs.
2023 Range Rover Sport Engine & Performance
The base engine is a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six that utilizes a 48-volt hybrid system making 355-hp in the P360 SE and 395-hp in the P400 SE Dynamic. A plug-in hybrid P440e setup is limited to the fancy Autobiography trim paired with an electric motor to the inline-six for a combined 434-hp. The peppiest cut can be found in the P530 First Edition, which houses only a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 that pumps out a solid 523-hp.
The brand estimates the V8 will rocket the Range Rover Sport to 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds. All models come with an eight-speed automatic transmission, all-wheel drive, and an adjustable air suspension as standard. The SUV can also be had with an optional performance driving arrangement called Stormer Handling Pack. This adds rear-wheel steering and torque-vectoring systems. The Rover Sport’s combination of comfort and athleticism is impressive.

The Sport’s revamped dashboard offers plenty of digital real estate, with a large 13.1-inch curved touchscreen serving infotainment duties. Also, an even larger 13.7-inch screen lies in front of the driver to display the gauges. The Pivi Pro interface is the company’s best attempt at in-car infotainment yet. The displays are crisp and clear, and it looks high-end floating above the Range Rover Sport’s upholstered dashboard. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity are standard and all Range Rover Sports come with Amazon’s Alexa. A 29-speaker Meridian stereo system is optional and incorporates speakers in the Range Rover Sport’s front and rear headrests.
