Audi has been a dominant name in the luxury car world for decades. But the AUDI E7X, note the capitalised brand name, which refers to the China-specific sub-brand operated jointly by Audi and SAIC Motor, is a different animal entirely. Revealed in full at Auto China 2026, it is a product built specifically for the Chinese market, tuned to Chinese buyer expectations, and priced to compete against the best that BYD, Li Auto, and NIO have to offer.
The exterior was first shown in December 2025. Now, with the full reveal at Auto China 2026, we finally have the powertrain figures, interior details, and the complete specification sheet. Here is everything you need to know.

Powertrain and Battery: The Numbers Are Serious

The AUDI E7X will be offered in two powertrain configurations.
The base version is a rear-wheel-drive setup producing 408hp and 500Nm of torque. The top-spec variant gets a dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration with a combined output of 680hp and 800Nm. AUDI claims the AWD version does 0 to 100kph in 3.9 seconds. Both variants are built on a 900-volt electrical architecture, which is what makes the fast-charging numbers possible. Buyers can choose between a 100kWh and a 109kWh battery pack. The larger pack delivers a claimed range of 751km under the CLTC cycle.
It is worth noting that CLTC figures, like WLTP and IDC numbers, tend to be optimistic. Real-world range will be lower, particularly on the highway. A realistic estimate for the 109kWh variant in mixed driving would be somewhere in the 550 to 620km range. The platform supports 4C fast charging, meaning the charging rate is four times the battery capacity in kilowatts. AUDI claims this delivers 429km of range in just 10 minutes. If that holds up in real-world testing, it is one of the fastest charging rates available in a production SUV today. The E7X also gets rear-wheel steering, Brembo brake calipers, and an air suspension system as standard.

Interior: Where AUDI E7X Makes Its Biggest Statement
The cabin is where this SUV goes furthest beyond anything the traditional Audi brand currently offers. The dashboard is dominated by a 27-inch 4K curved panoramic display. The steering wheel is a three-spoke unit with a mix of physical and touch-enabled buttons. The front seats recline to 139.1 degrees, which makes waiting at a charging station or taking a rest on a long drive genuinely comfortable. Every seat in the car, front and rear, comes with heating, ventilation, and massage functions. The rear seats include powered leg rests on both sides and 6-way adjustable headrests. Seat backs in both configurations can be reclined to 130 degrees and folded flat at the touch of a button.
The headline feature for rear-seat passengers is a 21.4-inch entertainment screen that deploys from the headliner. It can be used to stream content and also supports gaming via an attached console. This is not a feature you find in most luxury SUVs at any price point. Other interior highlights include a 26-speaker Bose audio system with speakers embedded in the front seat backrests near the shoulder and in the rear seat headrests, an AI-powered voice assistant capable of managing vehicle functions, and a 7.2-litre refrigerator for rear passengers.
Safety is comprehensive: 23 airbags, a full ADAS suite with a dedicated lidar sensor, and auto park assist with memory function.
Exterior Design: Bold and Distinctly Different
The E7X has a design language that steps away from Audi’s conventional styling. Up front, vertically-stacked Matrix LED headlights are surrounded by an oval arrangement of over 1,500 triangular LED daytime running lights wrapped around a closed-off grille. It is a striking look that reads as futuristic without being theatrical.
The side profile is clean, with 22-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels, flush door handles, and camera-based door mirrors in place of conventional ORVMs. The taillights echo the oval LED theme from the front. A black rear bumper with a silver skid plate rounds off the look. At 5,049mm long, 1,997mm wide, and riding on a 3,060mm wheelbase, the E7X is a genuinely large SUV. That wheelbase is what makes the rear-seat experience possible.
