Mahindra & Mahindra has announced its electrification plans for its entire lineup of Mahindra Electric Scorpio and Bolero. During the FutureScape Event, Mahindra’s executive director and CEO, Rajesh Jejurikar, revealed the company’s intention to gradually introduce electric versions of all its ICE models. The Mahindra EV’s will be based on the INGLO Platform
Mahindra showcased its new electric vehicle platform, the INGLO skateboard platform, which will underpin their upcoming electric SUVs. These models will depart from Mahindra’s traditional ladder-frame chassis. Instead they will utilize components from the Volkswagen Group’s modular electric drive matrix (MEB) platform. The powertrain configuration will feature rear-wheel drive (RWD), sourced motors from Volkswagen. There is a possibility of an all-wheel drive (AWD) option with a dual-motor setup for the Scorpio.e. In a creative touch, the Oscar-winning Music Director, AR Rahman, will design and develop the sounds for Mahindra’s upcoming range of all-electric models, adding a unique auditory experience to their electric vehicles.
Will Mahindra completely scrap the Ladder-Frame chassis style?
Mahindra has clarified that it will not entirely abandon the ladder-frame chassis style. Models such as the Scorpio Classic, Scorpio N, and the Bolero lineup will continue to be available with internal combustion engines (ICE) and retain their ladder-frame chassis. These SUVs are significant revenue generators for Mahindra in the Indian market. The company will maintain offerings of both petrol and diesel versions of these vehicles, while also investing in their ladder-frame platforms.
When will Mahindra launch the Scorpio and Bolero EV in India?
Mahindra has not disclosed the launch timeline for the Scorpio.e and Bolero.e electric SUVs.
