Kia is all set to unveil the refreshed Sonet in India on December 14, 2023. With bookings likely to kick off on the same day and a grand launch anticipated in January 2024. The subcompact SUV is gearing up for a substantial makeover and tech upgrade.
Exterior Revamp
The Kia Sonet facelift is about to make a bold statement with its redesigned exterior. Leaked images from October provided a sneak peek into the global model, featuring new headlamps with vertical extensions, a revised grille, and a fresh front bumper. While the side profile retains its original charm, the rear gets a stylish update with new tail lamps like the Seltos. Even the alloy wheels and rear bumper are in for a refreshing change. The India-specific variant is expected to follow suit, ushering in a new era for the Sonet.
Cabin Updates
The facelift isn’t just skin-deep; the cabin of the Sonet is also set for a makeover. Buyers should expect revisions in control surfaces, upholstery, trim pieces and enhanced the overall interior aesthetic. Kia aims to elevate the driving experience by updating Sonet’s feature list with level 2 ADAS on the top-tier models.
Engine & Performance
Under the hood, the Sonet facelift is expected to maintain the engine lineup from its predecessor. This includes the reliable 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, the robust 1.5-litre diesel, and the zippy 1.0-litre T-GDI turbo-petrol engines. The naturally aspirated petrol variant will come with a manual gearbox as standard. While the 1.5-litre diesel and 1.0-litre turbo-petrol models are likely to retain the 6-speed iMT gearbox and automatic gearbox options. Brace yourself for a potential addition to the range – a 6-speed manual gearbox could join the lineup.
