It took 8,000 hours to craft the wood inside the new Rolls-Royce Arcadia

Rolls-Royce, the epitome of automotive luxury, has unveiled the captivating “Arcadia Droptail.” It is the third iteration of a coach-built, four-unit series of exclusive open-top masterpieces. Following the Amethyst and La Rose Noire models showcased last year, the Arcadia Droptail was revealed at a private ceremony in Singapore. The new Arcadia Droptail presents the company’s bespoke creations tailored to the discerning desires of its ultra-high-net-worth clientele.

The Arcadia Droptail goes beyond the image we picture of a regular car. It’s a rolling work of art meticulously crafted to reflect the commissioner’s vision and preferences. Drawing inspiration from the architectural and design elements of the commissioner’s favourite regions. It includes Indonesia, Singapore, and Vietnam and embodies a unique cultural tapestry. This influence is evident in the car’s striking white paint. It is meticulously infused with aluminium and glass particles and creates a captivating visual experience. The new visuals reveal its depth and complexity upon closer inspection.

A Masterclass in Bespoke Craftsmanship:

Stepping inside the Arcadia Droptail is akin to entering a sanctuary of unparalleled luxury and personalized design. The car’s opulent wood panelling is a testament to the exceptional craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail that are hallmarks of a Rolls-Royce creation. The Santos Straight Grain rosewood, meticulously chosen for its rich texture and visual appeal, presented a unique challenge due to its incredibly tight grain, the tightest ever used in a Rolls-Royce. This rare wood, prone to tearing during machining and cracking while drying, demanded exceptional expertise to work with effectively.

Furthermore, the new Rolls-Royce Arcadia Droptail features a bespoke lacquer specifically developed to shield the exquisite wood panelling from the elements, ensuring its enduring beauty throughout the car’s lifespan, especially in tropical climates. This innovative lacquer, meticulously formulated after rejecting superyacht coatings that would have required frequent reapplication, represents over 8,000 hours of development alone. The sheer number of wood pieces utilized, totalling 233, further emphasizes the immense dedication and craftsmanship invested in crafting this automotive masterpiece.

A Technological Marvel Within:

The dashboard proudly showcases a bespoke clock, a testament to Rolls-Royce’s unwavering commitment to innovation and intricate craftsmanship. This timepiece, the most complex ever created by the brand, stands as a marvel of engineering, requiring two years of meticulous research and development followed by a painstaking five-month assembly process.
