These are the new Skoda cars launching soon in India
Skoda Auto India is gearing up for an exciting new chapter, fueled by fresh investments and ambitious expansion plans. As part of this strategic vision, the Czech carmaker has announced the introduction of several new models, catering to diverse segments and preferences. In this article, we’ll delve into the details of these upcoming new Skoda cars and explore what they bring to the Indian automotive market. Let’s dig in.
1. New-Gen Skoda Superb:
The iconic Skoda Superb is due for a comeback in the Indian market, with a different style and appeal. The current-gen model will come as a CBU unit and will cater to a niche segment seeking premium features and comfort. The new Superb will feature a new BS 6.2 emission-compliant 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with to a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
While this reintroduction might serve as a stopgap measure, the true excitement lies in the new-generation Superb, expected to make its Indian debut sometime in 2024. This next-gen model boasts a complete overhaul in terms of both exterior and interior design, offering a fresh aesthetic and a plethora of advanced features, further solidifying its position in the premium sedan segment.
2. Skoda Enyaq iV:
Skoda will soon mark its entry into the burgeoning electric vehicle (EV) market in India with the much-awaited Enyaq iV. Initially imported via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route, this premium electric SUV will compete with established players like the Hyundai IONIQ 5, Kia EV6, and Volvo XC40 Recharge.
Based on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform specifically designed for electric vehicles, the Enyaq iV promises impressive performance and range. Spy shots circulating online suggest that the top-spec 80x variant will offered in India and will boast a claimed range of over 500 kilometers on a single charge. This will address potential range anxiety concerns amongst prospective EV buyers.
3. Skoda Sub-4-Meter SUV:
Skoda is all set to enter the highly competitive sub-4-meter SUV segment with an all-new model slated for a March 2025 launch. Built upon the MQB-A0-IN platform, which underpins other successful models like the Kushaq and Taigun, this compact SUV promises to deliver a combination of practicality, performance, and the brand’s renowned design language.
Visually, expect the new SUV to embrace the company’s latest design philosophy, sporting a distinctive SUV stance while adhering to the sub-4-meter size regulations. Under the hood, the familiar 1.0-litre 3-cylinder TSI engine will do duty, generating 115 bhp and 178 Nm of peak torque. This tried-and-tested engine will come with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
4. New Skoda Octavia:
The latest generation of the Skoda Octavia received a mid-life facelift update internationally, leaving Indian enthusiasts wondering about its potential arrival here. Rumours suggest that Skoda might introduce the sporty Octavia RS iV to the Indian market. This high-performance variant will be based on the fourth-generation Octavia.
The new Octavia will enter the Indian automotive market via the CBU route and cater to driving enthusiasts. Under the hood, the new Octavia will feature a 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine along with a 116 bhp electric motor. The engine churns out a combined output of 245 bhp and 400 Nm of peak torque. This electrifying powertrain promises thrilling performance while maintaining the Octavia’s renowned driving dynamics. However, Skoda might not restrict itself to the RS iV.
