Volvo has announced plans to introduce two new electric vehicles in 2024, including the Volvo EX30, which is their smallest and most affordable SUV. The EX30 showcases a modern design with sleek curves, distinctive Thor’s Hammer LED headlights, and a diagonal Volvo logo. It also stands out with the “paint-the-roof black” technique, adding to its appealing appearance. Meanwhile, Toyota is preparing to re-enter the electric vehicle market with the bZ4X crossover. This vehicle features edgy styling that distinguishes it from Toyota’s conventional gasoline-powered SUVs. Unlike their previous all-electric vehicle, the RAV4 EV, the bZ4X will be available for sale at Toyota dealerships across the country. Customers can choose between front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive models. The bZ4X was developed in collaboration with Subaru, and it shares many similarities with the Subaru Solterra.

Even the base rear-drive version is no slouch, boasting 272 horsepower and rivaling the acceleration of a Honda Civic Type R, achieving a 0-60 mph time of under 5.5 seconds.

Volvo is preparing to launch the EX30 with three distinct trim levels, as they typically offer. These options, namely Core, Plus, and Ultimate, are expected to fall within the price range of $50,000 to $60,000 and accommodate both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. Safety takes precedence in the EX30, showcasing Volvo’s state-of-the-art Safe Space Technology. Among the notable safety features is the Door Opening Alert, which notifies the driver of approaching vehicles when opening the car door. The Advanced Driver Alert System, equipped with motion sensors and eye-monitoring technology, comes standard to ensure driver attentiveness.
Toyota bZ4X

The standard configuration of the bZ4X includes a front-wheel-drive, single-motor setup, providing 201 horsepower. This power output matches that of the Kia Niro EV and the front-wheel-drive variant of the Volkswagen ID.4. The all-wheel-drive version of the bZ4X features two motors, resulting in a slight power increase to 215 horsepower. During testing on a track, the most powerful dual-motor version achieved a 6.4-second acceleration time from 0 to 60 mph. Both the single-motor and dual-motor bZ4X models come with nearly identical battery capacities, with the single-motor version having a 63.4-kWh battery pack and the dual-motor model equipped with a slightly larger 65.5-kWh pack.
Price & Features
The bZ4X is available in two trim levels, namely XLE and Limited. Customers have the option to choose between a single motor and front-wheel drive or dual motors and all-wheel drive. The upgrade to dual motors and all-wheel drive is priced at $2080 for either trim. The starting price for the bZ4X lineup is $43,335. All bZ4X models come equipped with a spacious 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, a 7.0-inch digital gauge display is included as a standard feature.
