Toyota is bringing its GR Drivetrain with the 2023 GR Corolla. Equipped with the same 1.6L turbocharged three-cylinder and GT-Four AWD system similar to the GR Yaris. Also, it comes with a six-speed manual. For American preferences, Toyota gave the GR Corolla more power by tuning it to 300 hp and 370 Nm of torque rather than 257 hp and 360 Nm of torque.

The 2023 Honda Civic Type R‘s hp and torque ratings haven’t been revealed yet, but we are assuming that this model would be more powerful than the previous. Also, the engine figures haven’t been revealed if it uses a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder like its predecessor. Estimates show that the new model will offer 315-335 hp.
Despite some AWD rumours, the Civic is sticking to FWD with the same stick shift.

2023 Honda Civic Type R vs. 2023 Toyota GR Corolla: Which is Faster?
Despite lacking official specs, the Type R should be similar enough to smoke the outgoing model comparing GR Corolla. The current Type R mated with a six-speed manual makes the 0-60 mph sprint in 4.9 seconds.
Meanwhile, Toyota hasn’t released the acceleration figures for the GR Corolla, but some estimates say that the AWD can go 0-60 mph in under 5 seconds.

The Type R has spent quite a time in tuning at the Nürburgring. The 2023 Civic Type R sports bigger grilles as a resolution to repeated overheating complaints. The rear end has a different rear spoiler and a more aggressive rear diffuser. It still sports the three-pipe exhaust. The 2023 Type R should keep its precursor’s Brembo brakes, limited-slip differential, and trick dual-axis front steering.
As for the 2023 Toyota GR Corolla, it has wider tracks, wheels, and tires than a regular Corolla, as well as lighter, bespoke suspension components. Also, one can adjust the AWD system’s front-to-rear torque split. And similar to the Type R it has automatic rev-matching on downshifts.

2023 Honda Civic Type R vs. 2023 Toyota GR Corolla: Cost?
Both the Automakers haven’t revealed any pricing details, but from the estimates outgoing Honda Civic Type R starts at $37,895. Meanwhile, Toyota also wants to give competitive pricing for just under $40K.
