Toyota Sequoia Specifications & Features
The 2023 Toyota Sequoia was originally a full-size, three-row SUV built on the Tundra pickup truck platform. That will not alter with the arrival of the new generation for the model year 2023. The rest follows suit: the new Sequoia is significantly more modern than the second-generation Sequoia it replaces, which has been on the market for more than a decade. The new Sequoia includes the Tundra’s iForce MAX hybrid powertrain, which combines a 3.4-liter V6 engine with a battery-powered engine to produce 437 horsepower. Inside, it has a huge touchscreen with the most up-to-date software and a three-row interior with seats for up to eight passengers. The Sequoia’s interior capacity and cargo area remain a hindrance to its practicality, even though modernization provides it a better opportunity to compete with rivals like the Chevy Tahoe and Ford Expedition.
What’s New?
The new Tundra, Land Cruiser, and Lexus LX600 all share the same chassis as the revised Sequoia for 2023. It only comes in hybrid form and has a fresh exterior and interior design. This new version of Sequoia maintains a spacious interior with a third row of seats as standard equipment. Standard seating for the second row is a bench with an eight-passenger capacity; second-row captain’s chairs are an option that reduces the number of seats to seven. Both rows of the back seats have little headroom, especially when the optional panoramic sunroof is installed.
Toyota Sequoia Engine, Power, Acceleration & Performance
The iForce MAX hybrid powertrain, which is an option on the Tundra truck, is standard on the Sequoia. The combined output of this powertrain, which consists of a twin-turbo 3.4-liter V6 engine and an electric motor, is 437 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque. The Sequoia SUV also features the same 10-speed automatic transmission as the Tundra. RWD is the default, with 4WD available on most variants and standard on the TRD Pro variant, which is designed for off-road use. The 4WD Sequoia Capstone hit a quarter-mile in 14.3 seconds at 94 mph and hit 60 mph in 5.6 seconds. Although a bit slower than the Ford Expedition Timberline, that is faster than the previous generation GMC Yukon Denali. A front skid plate, a locking rear differential, improved Fox dampers, forged 18-inch wheels, and 33-inch tires are further off-road features included with the TRD Pro.

Due to its hybrid configuration, the new Sequoia is considerably more effective than the outgoing model. Models with rear-wheel drive have EPA ratings of 21 mpg in the city, 24 mpg on the highway, and 22 mpg overall. These figures are slightly lower when four-wheel drive is used; they are 19 mpg city, 22 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined.

The huge 14.0-inch touchscreen featured in the Tundra has replaced the obsolete touchscreen system present in the original Sequoia. The latest infotainment software from Toyota will be used on this screen, which is a standard feature on all models other than the base SR5. It features a Wi-Fi hotspot and a variety of audio streaming options in addition to smartphone mirroring.

The Limited trim seems to be the most cost-effective in the selection. Despite being only one level above the base SR5, it has a tonne of extra features as standard. A bigger 14.0-inch touchscreen, a power liftgate, 20-inch wheels, heated and cooled front seats, and a power-folding third row are among the features on this list.

Conclusion
Fresh, attractive appearance, strong and reasonably efficient hybrid powertrain, quiet interior. There is little headroom in the backseat, it seems awkward to drive, and the third row of seats doesn’t fold completely flat. The redesign of the 2023 Sequoia takes it closer to its large SUV competitors, but we wish Toyota had given practicality and driving vigour more consideration.
