Audi SQ8 E-Tron Specifications & Features
The 2024 Audi SQ8 e-Tron gets a boost from a 496-hp electric powertrain, earning its spot among Audi’s high-performance models. Derived from the comfort-oriented Q8 e-Tron SUV, the SQ8 e-Tron comes in two conventional-looking body styles. Squareback and Sportback. They both provide the luxury treatment of their tamer counterparts but with a sportier appearance and more power. Fueled by a 106-kWh battery pack, it promises a decent driving range. Though not as much as rivals like the BMW iX and Tesla Model X. The SQ8 e-Tron can be rapidly charged through a DC fast-charging station. It should suffice for most users with an expected range of around 240 miles. Audi packs its top-notch technology into every SQ8 e-Tron. Featuring Virtual Cockpit digital gauges, touchscreen infotainment with Wi-Fi connectivity, and a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance features, including adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist.
What’s New?
The SQ8 e-Tron makes its debut as a new nameplate in the Audi lineup for the 2024 model year. Essentially a rebranded version of the 2023 e-Tron S SUV. It retains the familiar squareback and Sportback body styles with no major changes.
Audi SQ8 e-Tron Motor, Battery, Range & Performance
The SQ8 e-Tron shares its platform with the Q8 e-Tron but distinguishes itself with a more potent three-motor electric powertrain, delivering a robust 496 hp. We estimate its acceleration to 60 mph at around 4.5 seconds. With two electric motors on the rear axle instead of one, the SQ8 e-Tron can mimic a torque-vectoring differential, adjusting power distribution to the outside rear wheel to enhance cornering. In everyday driving, the SQ8 exhibits confident and reasonably athletic handling, although it may not offer the same sharp responses found in other S-branded Audi models.
While the ride of the SQ8 e-Tron may not match the comfort of the Q8 e-Tron, it serves as a constant reminder of its sportier orientation. This pays off on winding roads where the SQ8 delivers more entertainment. Equipped with a 106.0-kWh battery pack, all SQ8 e-Tron models can be charged using a 170 kW DC fast-charging connection, providing an EPA-estimated driving range of up to 253 miles per charge. Opting for the larger 22-inch wheels results in a slightly reduced range estimate of 218 miles.
