BMW XM Engine, Power, Range & Performance
In the BMW lineup, the XM packs a punch with its twin-turbocharged 4.4L V8, juiced up by an electric motor and battery combo, boasting a whopping 644 hp. The initial test hinted at a 3.8-second sprint to 60 mph, but in a different climate, it pleasantly surprised us with a swift 3.4 seconds. While slightly behind rivals like the Lamborghini Urus and Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid, the XM’s performance is noteworthy. Its coil-spring suspension, enhanced by adaptive dampers and active anti-roll bars, doesn’t match an air suspension’s composure but provides a comfortable ride in Comfort mode and agile handling in Sport. With a 25.7-kWh battery offering approximately 30 miles of electric range, the XM balances power and efficiency. Charging to 100 percent takes just over three hours with the 7.4 kW onboard charger.
